I never loaded a package car. Went from unload to sort.


It definitely took me a little longer to catch on driving than if I had loaded.

Guys who go from preload to driving generally do better than local sort to driving in our building.

I think that's the general consensus.


I think it's a multitude of things. If you can get your ass out of bed at 3 am everyday. You probably have a decent work ethic.

In my center the preloaders almost always made it as drivers vs 1/3 or 1/4 of off the street or hub trainees.

When I did my time on preload they were going to stick me on the sort having never loaded a package car. I was like no, let me load for a week, then we'll see.

I was cruisin between 10-15 mph last night. One stop was 40 minutes round trip. Lmao.

It's a no win. If I don't do it I'm constantly told I've never done it. If I tried to do it I'm told I'm stealing union work.

Most of the people on the sort respected that I at least made a point of doing the job before supervising it.
