How much did you make per hour in 1971?

I started at 6 something an hour (I know it was less than 7). My wife was making $3.25 an hour working for the State of Mn. We were rolling in the money making almost 10 bucks an hour between us. We saved $10,000 the first year which we used to buy an $18,000 house on a nice lake. Our house payments were less than a hundred a month and that included insurance. Times were good! Home heating oil was 18 cents a gallon. I remember thinking "damn it cost a fortune" to fill up our 265 gallon tank. I still have the receipt. Every time I run across it I just laugh.

Also I should say when I started you were paid a dollar an hour less than a full seniority person BUT it only took 90 days to get up to full scale. I kind of remember Union dues were about 3 bucks a month.
