A man in
Topeka , Kansas decided to write a book about Churches around the country. He started by flying to San Francisco and started working east from there.

Going to a very large church, he began taking photographs and making notes. He spotted a golden telephone on the vestibule wall and was intrigued with a sign, which read 'Calls: $10,000 a minute.'

Seeking out the pastor he asked about the phone and the sign. The pastor answered that this golden phone is, in fact, a direct line to heaven and if he pays the price he can talk directly to God.

The man thanked the pastor and continued on his way. As he continued to visit churches in
Seattle , Dallas, St. Louis, Chicago, Milwaukee, and around the United States, he found more phones, with the same sign, and the same answer from each pastor.

Finally, he arrived in
Massachusetts. Upon entering a church in Boston, MA .. Behold - he saw the usual golden telephone. But THIS time, the sign read "Calls: .35 cents."

Fascinated, he asked to talk to the pastor, "Reverend, I have been in cities all across the country and in each church I have found this golden telephone and have been told it is a direct line to Heaven and that I could talk to God, but in the other churches the cost was $10,000 a minute. Your sign reads only 35 cents a call. Why?"

The pastor, smiling benignly, replied, 'Son, you're in
Massachusetts now, home of the Boston Red Sox. You're in God's Country, It's a local call."

Hey you AL guys, looks like the Tigers are trying to play catch up during the winter meetings. Also looks to me like the Marlins could soon have a "For Sale" sign up at their clubhouse. You could make an interesting case that the Fish helped the Sox win the title so will the same magic hold for the Tigers?

I'm in a NL town and it's obvious to me the action will be in the AL. Thank God somebody will have good baseball. Pitchers and catchers report in a little over 2 months so we need to start hitting up Diesel right now for bedroom space and a spot at the dinner table!

You know, many of us in So Fla are tired of seeing Ex-Marlins as a farm team for MLB. Some say why are you complaining, we've won 2 Championships in Ten years. But mngmt has yard sales with our best players year after year. Thank god for profit sharing. Any how our dilema now is bldg a new "baseball only" stadium somewhere here and who will pay for it.( I'm sure the Dolphins are tired of playing on infield dirt for the first 6 weeks of the season, maybe the might win a game with all turf...Not) But we will always have spring training and the grapefruit league playing up and down the coast on both sides of our peninsula. As far as bedroom space and a spot at the dinner table, I have a patio lounge chairs and a BBQ grill, what else do you need? (Besides misquito spray)

There are 2 things I hope to do when I retire and that is comes down to Florida the first of February but not for Daytona but rather what they call Dirt Weeks. The best racing is on dirt, not asphalt. I'm a big fan of dirt track racing and I'd love to come down and go from Volusia Speedway to cross state East Bay Speedway and watch the Outlaw Sprinters and the Late Models run. And after that all ends, spring training is usually cranking up so I'd stick around for that. What a life!
