I'm aware of that. But the blanket statement that hard work just doesn't get you anything today is entirely untrue.
So what if I wanted a billion dollars and I worked as hard as I can, but I didn’t get it?

I'm no boomer.
It's loser talk.
If you play stupid games, you win stupid prizes.the cost of living was much cheaper. A poor person could make it, because for one they didn’t need a degree and two the housing market was lower. You got millennials paying 3,000 in rent. Stuck in college debt or not being able to advance because they didnt get their imaginary piece of paper.
Well.youre basing on personal experience. What if I did everything you did and didn’t make it? Then what

I don't care about your college debt. You chose it. I didn't.
How many people 50 years ago had thousand dollar slabs of glass in their pockets?
How many had riding lawn mowers?
How many had air conditioning?
People are entitled p* who have no idea what the difference between "need" and "want" is.
Well.
My secret here at UPS has been not quitting.
It's a secret, but if you follow that method, you'll pretty much always be gainfully employed.
Exactly. If you choose to get a degree in gender studies, I'm all for letting you starve to death. Your poor choices are not my problem.you don’t need a degree at ups, unless you go management. What if you were in a field that did require it? You’d be out of luck. I dont care about people back then. Comparing is stupid anyways.
No, but my magic 8 ball says as long as I show up to work, don't hit anyone, and don't steal stuff, I'll have a decent job as long as I want it.we don’t have a crystal ball
The argument isn't that it gets you anything you could possibly want, it's that it gets you somewhere. So what if I wanted a billion dollars and I worked as hard as I can, but I didn’t get it?

When I was younger I had these stupid dreams of owning a house with a multicar garage with a big powerboat and Porsche Cayman in them and a backyard I could land a Cessna on that I kept parked in my own hangar. Reality set in and priorities changed. Desires and goals shifted and adjusted over time.
I could've been a useless little bitch and just gave up and cried about how life wasn't fair. But instead I adapted to the current world and have come a lot farther than I would have otherwise, and can safely say than I am living comfortably without any believe that anyone owes me anything.
Man, that'd be nice, cushy job in some HR dept doing zero work, making more than all of us, after 6 years of taking it easy in school . . . so yeah you're right lolExactly. If you choose to get a degree in gender studies, I'm all for letting you starve to death.
well this would be fine and dandy but the logic being applied here was that I didn’t work hard enough
I believe hard work got you something back then, but not today.
This is what you said:
So what is that "something" then? Let's be realistic here.
Try working harder then.well this would be fine and dandy but the logic being applied here was that I didn’t work hard enough

Like I said in a subsequent post, I adapted. I shifted priorities. These idiots can keep their $300k houses. I'll live out of a van before I shell that kind of money out for some McMansion or flipped bullyou left out the back then part. Hard work back then could get you a decent house. I’m assuming you’re a millennial to, so our group is struggling to even pay rent with a job.
Damn I dunno where you are, but I'm jealous. Avg sale price here is $800k.These idiots can keep their $300k houses.
friend* that even harder.Damn I dunno where you are, but I'm jealous. Avg sale price here is $800k.
