People who do not use all their sick/option days before being payed out?

    I see this a lot. Why?

    Wouldn't they rather have the time off but instead never use their sick days?

    Are they too scared to call out?

    Use it! Nothing to be scared of call in I am sick and hang up.

    In my building we don't have any sick days. Don't work, don't get paid. Got tired of being turned down for optional days so I don't ask anymore and just take the extra pay around May 1st.

    I've only called in sick ONE time in my 5½ years. If I feel I can work, then I man up and work. Plus our center manager is pretty good about optional days. I haven't been denied yet. But if they did ever deny me an optional day and I really needed it off, I wouldn't hesitate to call in sick

    I usually use whatever I have left around October. Took every Friday off one year and then a cruise another.

    It's called having options/choices. If it was in the contract that you couldn't cash them out then I'm sure more people would call in sick. Are you asking because you aren't working every day?

    We can carry our sick days over but our personal days get paid off at the end of the year.

    Good I might have to. No drivers in my center are on vacation this week so I will more than likely be laid off the whole week

    Just ask your sup for a few sick days off.
    They can agree to time off.

    Do FHPs get cashed out too or is it a use it or lose it thing?

    So even though I'm laid off, they can put me down for sick days?

    Your supervisor will say no. But if you talk to the timecard lady she will put you down as an option day. That way you keep your insurance.
    I just look at the schedule ahead of time and turn in a card
