I saw some reporting on it on FOX where they obtained through FOIA video of the Taliban and Pakistani caravans going through a valley in northeast Afghanistan that connects the two countries. They've surveiled that valley for years, knew exactly what was going on and never tried to stop it. Why do you think that is? Trump said they were spending $42 billion a year in Afghanistan. No, wasn't at the meeting where they decided to cash in. Oh so conspiracy proves Donald was correct in pflushing down 20 years of American sacrifice and blood including those who died on 9/11.
Yeah, because generals getting fat paychecks at defense contractors after retiring isn't happening. We got bin Laden, and other than harboring him for a time the Taliban had nothing to do with 9/11. Most of those guys were Saudis. Continuing to get people killed for a people who won't stand and fight their oppressors is insanity. Meanwhile we give billions to Pakistan which was giving material support to the Taliban as well as hiding bin Laden.
The problem is the way Biden withdrew.
Donald had a plan to end that biden ignored in his rush to get out.
Everyone says this but a complete withdrawal of Afghanistan would be disastrous no matter what in the end. The only way you would succeed is by keeping their air force going, keeping contractors there, keeping intelligence assets there.
Al Qaeda and the Taliban are thick as thieves, so yes by siding with the aggressors of 9/11 they became America’s enemy. Their country became al Qaeda’s stronghold.
What’s the plan then? It should of ended with the status quo maintained over this non sense. Yes all volunteer army, it is worthwhile fight against some of the worst people imaginable, no matter what you think either we were doing good over there for the people of Afghanistan as well.
Do you honestly think after dealing with us for 20 years they're eager to provoke us militarily again? I know the Afghans lost a lot of men fighting them. But take away our air support and they turned and ran. You're very cavalier about our soldiers' lives. The Taliban wants their Muslim paradise in Afghanistan. Let them have it and only engage them if they start acting out outside their borders. If the Afghans find them too oppressive they can rise up.
I don't believe Trump would have done a "complete withdrawal". He would have kept non combat air support and just spun that as a a withdrawal. The media would call him a liar and his base would have supported him.
And you are very cavalier about having a dove foreign policy. Soldiers sign up to fight and die, throw in my face like I’m some uncaring ass if you want, but it’s my opinion Afghanistan was a just war and the nation building America was doing with our allies was the best path forward.
I didn’t trust trump on this, I really do believe he would of if left unchecked. I trusted Pompeo and Bolton when it came to getting Trump away from this non sense.
Nation building? Surveys of the Afghan populace said that they didn't want us there. Totally corrupt government. It was a money pit that was costing lives. But hey, the defense contractors were making bank, Congressmen were getting big campaign contributions, and generals were getting set up for life when they retired. The world is no worse off with us gone but we sure are.
I respect your opinion on it. I don’t think your a bad person. There was definitely a lot of waste there, there were 7,000 servicemen dead, yes.

If you're talking Iraq we should've stayed out. But we had valid reasons to go into Afghanistan. But not for 20 years.
