People change their minds about things all the time.

Oh, like the trade "deal" with the Chinese? Even though it's still not a deal, Trump is touting it as one. Problem is, the Chinese have moved on. As a net ag importer, they're not interested in starving millions, so they've negotiated ag deals with stable governments that won't change their minds at the last minute or try and leverage a "Great Deal".

So, US farming isn't coming back soon because Trump burned the Chinese and trade agreements that took decades to finalize. We're no longer trusted because Trump can't be trusted. A "deal" with a con man is no deal at all.

The Chinese know it, and have acted accordingly. Farmers would have to cut their crop prices so far that they would lose even more money than Trump has already cost them...IF the Chinese would even consider doing business with them.

The Chinese need our market for all the schlock they make. Trump has gotten them to buy more from us in exchange to having tariff free access to our market. How you can spin that into a negative is beyond me.

Sorry, but you LIE. Farmers are going to be subsidized up to 30B for Trump's failed trade policies. What, pray tell, are the Chinese buying more of, from us? They're buying a lot of ag, oil, and raw materials, but not from us. Oh, yeah. They're also building infrastructure and trade agreements with other countries who we've turned our backs on.

Their "schlock" is built in US run factories. Yeah, when you go to Wally World to buy your "Frozen" dolls, they're made in China, like most of the other consumables you buy there.

Support Communism, van!! You're the man for China! Get a Mao suit and wear it proudly.

Apparently you haven't heard that they completed the "Phase 1" trade deal where China has pledged to buy at least $40 Billion a year worth of Ag products from us for the next two years. Don't you get tired of being wrong all the time? And much of what is made is by Chinese companies licensed to make American products. Ever hear of Foxconn? Which was another sticking point in the trade deal, the forced turnover of our technology to the Chinese.

Nothing has been signed, so there's no deal..at all. How many "deals" has Trump actually closed with China? ZERO. Oh yeah, Foxconn was supposed to build a factory with thousands of high-paying Trump jobs. Didn't happen.

Yeah, the Chinese want to continue the tariffs and have even more tariffs put on their goods. Buy a clue.

It will be fine

Phase 1, but not likely beyond that.
Phase 1: Trump creates problem
Phase 2: Trump retreats and stops some of the damage he’s causing.
Phase 3: Right wing media celebrates Trump’s genius in solving the problem.
Phase 4: Trump’s base of mouth breathers cheer for the “winning.”

Rinse and repeat.

China just announced on January 1st they are removing or reducing tariffs on 850 products. By the way, African Swine Fever has caused the death of half of China's pig herd. 85% of all meat the Chinese eat is pork. They've been driving up pork prices everywhere in the world except here due to the trade war. A Chinese official the other day said they are going to buy a million metric tons of pork from us in 2020. The U.S. annual pork production is 2.2 million tons and about a fourth of that is normally exported. Pork should get substantially more expensive. In 2013 the Ped-V virus killed 10% of the U.S. herd, mostly piglets, and prices exploded. Now the Chinese are looking to buy almost half of our production. I'm giving you a heads up here. Are you going to use that, or scoff and sneer because some "mouth breather" can't possibly tell you anything worthwhile? There are 40,000 lbs of pork in a contract. I currently have two, looking to add a third soon. Hope to eventually have 20. That's $8000 a cent. I don't have your resources but even starting small has the potential to do very well in this market. And Trump's trade war? It slowed things up to allow me to get some money together to get into this. Otherwise pork would already be expensive and the opportunity would have passed. Thank you Mr. President!
