The effort may be organized at the National level but local citizens should make decisions.
I don't think any politician should have anything named after him/her ... too much cost and BS associated with it.
I like cities that have numbers for Avenues and tree/flower names for streets.

should sounds good but application is lacking.
you think charlottsville woke up one morning and decided they need to remodel? clearly the push is coming from the outside.
then you have the agitators from both sides most of whom came from the outside, bused and flown in from the outside, financed from the outside

If the locals don't care, I don't care.
I am a libertarian.
I don't see how removing a statue from a school or government park is causing me or anyone else physical harm or financial gain opportunity.

when they get sworn in as citizens.
how's that border wall trump promised coming along?
Oh that's right, he diverted $20 million from the border patrol, who actually does something to stop people from breaking immigration laws, to companies making prototypes for a wall. The real estate tycoon who has built skyscrapers wasted $20 million on plans for a freaking wall lmfao. Uh, it's gonna be this tall, and this wide, and this long, thanks for my 20 million dollars.

Guess what.... no border wall. Another Trump lie.
What a chump.

all that's fine , I'm just saying its not a local issue by any means though it should be.

while we're on the topic its a new twist to federal versus states rights.

we've fought wars over a states rights to determine is own laws and resisted efforts by the feds.

we now see large powerful well financed organizations trying to use their power to influence local issues.
a pseudo fed influence if you will.

you see regional court systems trying to make policy just to consistently get over ruled by the supreme court.

there are many challenges in todays world to the regular order that should decide state and local issues

It's not that complicated - elected Republicans are all about states' rights, until they aren't.

Not that difficult.

Did your state decide something, voted on by its citizens?

Awesome, states rights!*

Did your city decide something, voted on by its citizens?

Great, local control, plus states rights!!*

Are we against the big bad Federal Gubermant?

Yes we are! States rights!*

*JK, we'll totally use the entire federal government to squash anything we don't like...you didn't believe us, did you?

Does any adult outside the school system recite the pledge of allegiance?

Twice a month at the Township meetings. They always open the meetings with Pledge and then second on the agenda is pay the bounties for gopher feet. A buck fifty per pair of front feet. We've had as many as 325 pair turned in at one time. A good paycheck for a kid who has the ambition to trap gophers.
