new bill is 130 pages old bill is 2000 pages
Might be due to the fact that the new bill keeps most of the old bill in place. All of what they are trying to do has to be able to go through the budget reconciliation process in the senate. They can only change the taxes and subsidies that way. In short they are giving millionaires a tax cut paid for by kicking poor people of Medicaid. Just like Jesus would do.

they are not kicking anyone off. Everyone who gots it now stays on it. It will be up to the states who they want and who they enroll. States under Obama care who expanded Medicaid are having big time trouble now because the government funding falls after a few years. it is blowing holes in budgets

They are not kicked off. They are just not forced to buy insurance they don't want. They are being allowed to decide for themselves.

Not to mention the cbo only scored one phase of the bill, there are two more phases. One designed to open up access for insurance companies to compete in every state. Also insurance plans will be designed differently. The cbo can only score what is there not what is going to be there

people are trying to say people on it now, will be kicked off. They won't
Ok. $8 billion in cuts to Medicaid funding won't kick anyone off? People having the "freedom" to not buy insurance only raises the prices for everyone else. They will still use services, but the cost will be passed on to everyone that has insurance. Premiums and deductibles will go up. Any other "phases" of legislation can't pass the senate because they won't have 60 votes, this is all they have.

Medicaid is not going to be expanding like it is now, Meaning future enrolles have until 2019 to enroll. States will have to make up the difference if they want to expand it. Also it don't affect those 65 and older. plus able body adults will now have a work requirment

Has for not buying insurance it depends, the price, what is covered etc.. If there are more plans at cheaper prices then people will buy it. Right now your being forced to buy plans you don't necessarily need. Why does a single male age 45 need to pay for pregnancy and stuff.

It's not an abstract thought experiment. We know what enrollment was like before the ACA before the mandate, it was bad. The point of including essential benefits is so you know what's covered in every plan. If an uninsured pregnant women comes to a hospital and has an emergency c-section the hospital doesn't pass that cost along to only women of child bearing age. The cost is passed on to everyone. That 45 year old male is paying either way so might as well pay upfront and try to control the cost.

that's point and you got it, you design a plan so that single male is paying for himself, you design a plan for woman who want essential benefits. People need to pay for what they get in their plan

the people who are paying but not using pay for those that use it. Furthermore if you want more coverage you should have to pay for that coverage
