She was a good actress who fought diabetes for a half century.

The opening theme where MTM throws her hat into the air was filmed in front of Dayton's Dept. store in downtown Minneapolis with ordinary everyday people walking around. I saw an interview years ago where they were talking to the the old gal who walks behind Mary and looks directly at the camera with a sour look on her face. She said all the years she had to watch herself looking at her worse every time she watched that show and she just hated it. She said her only regret in life was that she wasn't smiling in that shot.
