That starting rate for the part timers (8 or 8.5) was stuck in limbo for over 25 years.

Back when I started the entry level part timers made 5.50 which was 2.5 times the minimum wage at the time. 3 bedroom houses were selling at 35,000 and a new car ran about 5,000 ( gas was at 35 cents a gallon), I was renting an one bedroom apartment for 135 a month all utilities included in a major city.

The equivalent today considering the cost of living would be close to 38 bucks an hour for a starting part time employee.
exactly you get it.not like these lame ass drivers company yes men worse than management they make me sick.

Good sign for the UPS contract... if Washington is worried about a rail stoppage causing havoc on our economy what are the chances of a (massive) UPS work stoppage in 2023, and the ensuing walkouts and support from every collective bargaining Unions in America and beyond.

Every Union in America is hoping for a UPS strike or at best a fantastic contract, it will set a standard nationwide. If there is a UPS work stoppage (strike or lock out) it would cripple our economy and the world’s.

Similar to the old “Cold War” scenario, it would take an lunatic to push that button.

ok whats 15 bucks now verses 8 dollars a million years ago?8 buck back in the day was a pack of marlboros and couple of 32 oz beers and a couple of gallons of gas.don't try to pull that with me.drivers deserve more, you got yours don't hate on the people that keep the building running, that are your union brothers and sisters getting ripped off at every opportunity by the company.
$8/hr 40 years ago, while not as much as red circle PT, was still way above minimum wage. $9/hr for sorters and annual contract increases and full benefits after qualifying. Todays PT starting wages are an embarrassment to the Union.
