Should our desire be to seek Christ’s perfection?
Of course we should always strive for it yet always know we will not achieve it. You walk with Jesus when you accept Him into your life as Savior, yet you will still make mistakes with sin along the way. No one besides Jesus has led a sin free or flawed life which is why it is so important to have Him as your Savior to begin with

Did Jesus have an advantage some how that gave him the ability not to yield to temptation?

I'd say that being the Son of God an advantage yes,,,, essentially God himself
He was “ tempted in all points like we are “ - Heb. 4:15… if he had an advantage, he wasn’t tempted “ like we are.” Jesus was 100% man and 100% God. He did not use his Deity to not sin. He withstood temptation perfectly as a man.

Also “ God cannot be tempted “- James 1:13… If the perfect example had an advantage, he couldn’t be your example.
ok.... we disagree on that. It's why people bicker about the Trinity all the time. God is God. Jesus is God. Holy spirit is God. All one entity and viewed separately. Jesus was also man. He was the Son of God but God. Our disagreement may be a big point of contention on your part, but I still see it being the example because Jesus in physical form was perfect in a way that no one has ever been or will ever be.
