The quality of life is still higher than pretty much all developing nations. Areas in those countries that are more prosperous are also more expensive. And are surrounded by much poorer areas. There is no hidden paradise anywhere where the poor live well on little. Just a hard fact of life.

Good question. I would think the average American would look at a Mexican working for $10 a day, no car, multiple generations in the same house, little upward mobility, monotonous diet, as poor. He may eat enough, but Mexicans who are more prosperous are eating fast foods and a lot of sugar. Rivaling Americans for percentage that are obese.
I laugh at the masses who stoically refuse to eat GMO foods, but brainlessly line up for mRNA vaccines and boosters ad infinitum!

I don't think they're refusing to eat them. Has been demonstrated that genetically modified wheat and corn along with seed oils and sugar are greatly contributing to obesity. Too many carbs, too much inflammation. Everywhere around the world where this stuff has been introduced into diets obesity has risen as well as Type 2 diabetes and heart disease.
