I remember when the bill passed the house...Within days we were called into a meeting and was told about why the unions wouldn't be good for us...
It looked promising after all the years the bill sat that something finally good would come our way....But In 2009 and 2010,Fedex spent almost $42 million on lobbying and got the bill changed which Obama should of then vetoed when it hit his desk....
You know I see a lot of you guys bickering about Republicans and Democrats but who really has our best interests in hand?? Im tired of voting for the "lesser of two evils"... UM BOTH!
Like Ra1 has said the only option we got now is leave or bend over....

The Democrats caved on the FAA reauthorization since the Republicans had them by the nads and they knew it.

There were many union jobs idled (good dues paying members who vote Democrat), because of the shutdown. They starting screaming to protect THEIR jobs. It worked.

The Democrats protected their voting block, at the cost of a potential block that is split (just look at the posters on this forum).

It was hardball politics pure and simple, and the Republicans came out ahead that inning.

Take a look at the socialist democracies of Europe. They typically run 10-15% unemployment. All the socialist cradle to grave programs have finally caught up with them. The Greeks literally pitched a fit over not being able to retire at 50 with a comfortable pension. As a matter of fact everywhere the very generous social entitlements are being threatened people are pitching a fit. Seems no matter where you go there are those who believe they are entitled to have everything they want when they want it. And if they don't get it they want to revolt against the evil overlords. I don't think Fred S is entitled to live like a Saudi prince but he should do very well. But he should also take good care of those who make it happen for him. That doesn't mean that we all make $100k with gold plated benefits. And it doesn't mean we should be put in a position of struggling paycheck to paycheck while being told we're lucky to have a job. If you aren't wise enough, mature enough, enlightened enough, selfless enough to realize there must be a happy medium that most can be happy with, then please go figure out how to attain wisdom, maturity, enlightenment, and selflessness before shooting off your mouth about things that you obviously don't have a clue. That goes for everyone on this board who seem to think that money grows on trees, and somehow the rich are keeping you out of that orchard. Grow up!! Billions are living on a few dollars a day or less and you act like spoiled children because you don't get to have a fast car or hot girl like the rich guy has. If the sum of your life is having a lot of cool stuff while the world suffers then I'm just spitting in the wind here. Enough is enough. Good luck with the downsizing, I'm out of here.
