Richard Smith gets big FedEx promotion

You are correct. He did not use his money to purchase it and put the deed in his name. He did get with the Mayor and city council members to have their Center City Revenue Finance Corp appropriate it to his disposal. The point I was making was that 4 days before FedEx number 2 abruptly left the company, Fred's son took possession of his future office. I am sure Fred has an office at the world headquarters, but his main office is closer to his house off of either Poplar or Walnut Grove.

Look deep into who the Center City Corp is and the officers. I would not be surprised if it was not acquired by tax payers money.

If they want Fred's son as the CEO, they'll install him as CEO. They don't need to beat around the bush to do it. If a non-Fred approved person gets it, expect major changes.
They can always do what they want, but to keep investors happy, it would be better for them to have this prodigy tearing up through the ranks like a frenzied hero on a white horse and get a little knowledge on the way up.

That's all very interesting. Now that you've done all that research, what's the point you're trying to make with it?

If they want to make investors happy, they get rid of Fred and the rest of the old guard. They convert a lot of FT positions to PT, get rid of guarantee pay, possibly cut benefits, contract out some of the work, and lay people off when the situation calls for it. The old-timers who believe in the company believe all of that stuff is needed for the stock price to stay high. Most others understand that the company is spending a lot of money on this stuff and that it keeps the stock price lower. Some of the larger shareholders have been making this point for the last few years.

If you like Smith, fine. If you hate him, fine. What few people realize is that he's the person who is in the way of the people who would take a machete to expense in order to make some big money in short order. There are people who see this company as something that could be much more profitable than it is.

Remove the impediments to unionization, and have at it.

Quid pro quo.

Son of Fred.

Shocking.

When it comes to corporations, they are ran like dictatorships. You have a "dear leader" who runs the ship and everyone else are just yes men. If the dear leader wants to make his son the next dear leader, everyone says "absolutely". There's really nothing democratic about corporations.
