dad mentioned this to me this morning. i immediately thought of the 45,000 americans who unnecessarily die every year because of the for profit healthcare.
Its clear from your comment that you have some personal experience with this but this really isn't the place to voice it .

You have issues.
Actually he makes perfect sense. Seems to do with proximity and “size of the pond”.

We can all eat a bowl of Cheerios, and barely look at the tv while hearing about genocide two continents away. A terrorist shooting or bombing gets our full attention.

Shoot 19 school kids and Congressional committees are formed. Gun control debates rage anew.

Fly a couple jets into skyscrapers killing 3000 and the entire world buckles, heaves and changes forever.

But when it’s a slow, steady drip of death caused by a crappy, far too expensive healthcare system that takes 40,000 souls a year, one pathetic loser at a time, there is no nation changing revolt.

Wouldn’t be my first thought, but it is what it is.

Really because I never see them shut up about it these days...

keep an eye on the deaths the media covers, and the deaths they dont.

dont believe the hype.
I never said I didn't believe you but there is a time and place. For example: You wouldn't post something like that after the 9/11 tragedy. One thing has nothing to do with the other.

i dunno. ppl say its wrong to talk about gun control after a massacre, but thats the perfect time to talk about it. 9/11 is a good time to talk about state terrorism.

Your thought process is all over the place. There is nothing wrong with talking about gun control since it is relevant to what happened. Talking about how the media doesn't report healthcare deaths has nothing to do with what happened. I can't explain it any other way to you.

of course it does, and guys on here agree with me if you look back. the media is biased like crazy towards shootings, and other violent crimes from average people. little is said about corporate crime.

its just a spectacle. and its also a sign of the times.

All he’s doing by pointing out the healthcare issue is saying that we are only awakened to the senselessness of these deaths by the shocking brutality of it. There are far more senseless deaths that we simply pay no attention to and our healthcare system does foster that reality.

Of course no one dies anyways or dies overseas under socialized medicine. It's America bad 24/7!

Why do you hate America so much? Other countries make sure their citizens have healthcare coverage. There’s no reason America can’t do it and can’t do it far better than anywhere else on the planet.

Other countries have long wait lines to see a specialist. Have doctor and nurse shortages.

you can look at other things which cause societal problems and deaths. im guessing driving is one, lack of exercise is another, diet is another, stress is another, wages is another, loneliness is another, medical malpractice, pollution, etc.

what are the top causes of death? the media isnt doing its job with our public airwaves.
