I would welcome some sort of retaliation on managements part for me posting on here. Can you say "violation of my freedom of speech"??

I doubt if that will ever happen Haz,this site has been around a long time, and I honestly think that management keeps up on the posts here not to seek retaliation, but to learn what upsers really think. They know the ERI is useless, and theres
more truth here than it could ever reveal.Anytime ups has had a problem with anything posted in here,(and it has only happed a couple of times)they just contact Cheryl and ask her to delete it.
As far as unregistered posters goes,I`ve thought about it and concluded that they indeed have the right to speak thier minds.I do believe that most of them think they could lose thier jobs if ups found out they were being negative in here.
We should not hold thier ignorance against them.

A lot of people who post here are management and former management complaining about things. So on that point, I can understand why some people don't feel comfortable about registering, they are concerned about their job security. But believe me, this site is anonomous, so there is no reason not to register. A lot of people just like to read, they make up a lot of Brown Cafe traffic. You can't tell from User names who is what, but a lot of the negative posts are from management.

there's freedom of speech, then there's stupidity. you don't post things that should stay internal. you don't post major incidents that you were involved in, allowing them to find out your identity. this is the internet, information flows freely and quickly.

I don't think they should be allowed. It gets confusing figuring out which anonymous poster you're speaking to. You can set up an ID and still be anonymous.

Scratch-good points.

I think that, for the most part, unregistered posters from the management side contain contain the "because you are a stupid hourly scumbag, and therefore I am far superior to you" posts. Those are the ones I most look forward to replying to, even if they don't have the courage to read the response. Kind of like the kid that cross checks you from behind in high school gym hockey, then runs behind the PE teacher.

I disagree with tieguy plenty, but he does have the courage and convictions to engage your responses. I don't find him overly insulting either, although I know not everyone shares that opinion.

i'm sticking by what i said earlier: make a private sub-forum for those users who have attained both 6 months in and 250 posts.

I don't understand what benefit you would see coming from excluding new posters to a subforum? Isn't the concept of this forum to share information among what is mainly persons most likely associated with UPS employment? To limit some of that information to a new kid seems counterproductive to me.

Sure some anonymous posters stir the pot, some also contribute beneficial information. Heck some long time posters stir the pot too. How bout a 'Stir the Pot' rating and once a long time poster stirs the pot too many times.....oh never mind that was said in jest only.

Anonymous Posters don't bother me none.

There is probably valid points with all the posters. The amount of information one wants to offer is totally up to that person. Just by registering a username doesn't mean your giving up your personal information.

Anybody can get a free e-mail account at yahoo or hotmail or a number of other sites, far as having to have am e-mail address when registering. Shoot I have 2 or 3 other e-mails I use when I'm going into a site that I might suspect of selling e-mails to spammers.

My take on registering is nothing more then giving yourself some type of identifty to others. IE: over9.5 has that wild eyeball avatar, Scratch has the pup dressed with a UPS shirt avatar. Tieguy has the statue of liberty avatar and so on with the rest of us. a lot of these people you might get to know their views on things, But I wouldn't have the faintiest idea who they were if I past them on the street. In away I just seem to have more respect for those that have some kind of identity and put more weight into what they post vs. somebody that just uses the anonymous poster label.

Just by registering, your not exposing yourself to public scrutiny or making it easy for others to find you. It's just a way of others to identify who they are communicating with.

a) it's a common practice on forums
b) it weeds out the sketchy types
c) it's nice to enter a forum with the same familiar 20 faces
d) it circumvents the possibility of ups officials spying on this forum. it can be pretty easy to track down who DIADlover is. let's say diadlover then gets in an incident and wants a sounding board for his issues. he'd be pretty safe posting his concern in a subform, more than if he were to post anonymously.

I agree. We are all adults here. I'm sure we have all heard $%#@, **&#, and @$$&**$ before.

Just because we are all adults here and have heard the words does't mean that we WANT to hear those words. It is all about common decency. This has nothing to do with freedom of speech. It is about respect for each other.

The written word is very powerful. I have read many posts that have been forceful, persuasive, and passionate without the use of expletives.

Wait a minute - "**&#" is a bad word now? I thought it was a technical term.

Now I have to wait for this message to appear in the forum, because it has to be reviewed by a Moderator. I expect the "bad" word will be edited, too.

This process makes it almost impossible for anonymeece (anonymuses? anonymi?) to spam or flood or carpet bomb this forum.

That's one of the advantages of becoming a Registered User. The Boss wants to get twenty posts out of new members so we can figure out if you are just trying to post spam, porn, or just trolling. This usually deters most of that, but I think it also discourages people from signing up. If you sign up, you also get the added bonus of being able to use the Private Message and Chat Room features. Plus it saves us Moderators the time of approving your posts first.
