Should the union suspend union dues?

We may still be working but spouses may not be.
Part time members second jobs are affected.

Is this even an option?

That's just dead wrong. Now you do have the right to write the union and request they don't use your dues for politics. You will see you dues lowered by 24¢.
Dues cannot go to a candidate or campaign. Your dues may go to "get out the vote drives", "lobbying", "election information" and "public marketing". The only monies allowed to be given directly must come from a separate fund raising platform.
