The matter will no doubt be subjected to intense federal investigation. I can't blame the cops for relenting. They knew that they were facing superior forces. At the same time they knew that the mob was coming weeks earlier and those responsible for the failure to deploy adequate forces and the failure to generate a coordinated response between agencies will I hope be held accountable. And given the ongoing slew resignations it would appear that a lot of people will be held accountable .
It is a sad commentary on the state of the nation if security, signage and the plainly stated threat of the use of deadly force similar to what is posted at Area 51 surrounds capital grounds.... but if that's what it's going to take to prevent another coup attempt .. then that's the way it will have to be.
