Syria Permanent Ceasefire

thats the popular spin to discredit Trump decision making. The fact is Erdogan has been telling Trump for at least a year that he was going in.

we are not privy to all the dialogue that has taken place in that time between the countries but it sounds like the kurds were not willing to back off the turkish border. it appears that skirmish with the turks changed their minds.

its like the kid who has the toughest kid on the block as his friend, maybe he gets cocky and thinks he can start crap and talk a lot of nonsense others because of who his friend is. I think we had to show the kurds that we were serious about leaving the area to convince them to back out and create the buffer between the two historical enemies.

Regional conflict history says that the Turks were not going to allow an armed kurdish army to sit on their border in that area.

you now have the turks , the syrians , multiple kurd forces, multiple other syrian forces and the russians all staring at each other over their gun sights and we are thankfully no where in the middle.

I love our troops i think they are the best in the world but it is arrogant at the least to think our troops sitting in the middle of that shooting gallery would somehow prevent a skirmish and or to even think they theirselves were not at risk.

our history the last couple of decades tells us that anytime we have troops in the middle of anything over there they eventually become the target .

when i look at all the criticism of our pulling out i go back to the original point . did anyone really think we should stay in the middle of that shooting gallery?

did anyone really think we should fight the turks forever to protect the kurds. you know the turks and the kurds will fight regardless they've been doing if for a long time regardless of who was there

We pulled our troops back, we got the two sides to agree to an arrangement that keeps some peace and we are willing to use our economic might to protect the kurds while not risking american lives in the process.

best of all the turks and russians will now be the ones dealing with local insurgency and bogged down in that area.

thats a win anyway you shake it.

Umm..no. Putin, Erdogan, and Assad were the big winners here. You can spin it however you want, but about everyone except Trump die-hards thinks it was an absolutely terrible, inhumane, and disastrous foreign policy decision. That would be expert military advisors, both foreign and domestic, expert foreign policy advisors, both foreign and domestic, and our allies, whom have to be wondering what the US would do to them.

King Orange is Putin's tool, Assad's best buddy, and Erdogan's enabler. And he has the blood of thousands of dead Kurds on his tiny little hands.

my hats off to them , it is quite an impressive patch of sand and rocks. it appears you have defeated me with such a compelling argument for acquiring such valuable real estate. Let us immediately send in the troops i hope you will honor us and lead the way so we may reacquire this taj mahal of sand immediately.

word is the isis leader was just captured or killed

Trump will take full credit, even if he had zero to do with it. Both Kelly and Mattis have dissed him big time this week. I'm sure Orange Rambo would have like to been there for the capture/kill but his bone spurs were acting up.

All this talk about the Kurdish People. Like the average American has some emotional investment to them. They fight hard, they have a different language than Arabic, they subscribe to a neo communist sort of political system. Some are dark and swarthy, others look Legit British with fair skin, even saw a few with reddish hair.
They are given surpluses of weapons, typically from Germany, and other small countries. Not quite Palastinian, or Israeli in terms of land dispute. They have a saying: "No friend but the Mountains."
