And you're an idiot for believing that. As for getting out, they could have continued air support for the Afghan Army while they evacuated all Americans and locals we promised to take with us. And they could have put in enough.of our troops to insure that. Instead they took the military out in the middle of the night and left everyone behind. The outcry was so huge they sent 4500 troops back in to take over the civilian airport. Problem is it's in the city and surrounded by Taliban. They just about couldn't have done it any worse.

The Afghanistan president specifically asked to not remove a bunch of Americans because that would "signal" the US had no confidence in the Afghanistan government which would have caused fighting and deaths. The troops were removed because of the withdrawal agreement signed by the trump administration with the taliban and again refusing to remove American troops against the agreement with the taliban would have resulted in fighting and deaths. There was zero way to end this war without some tragedy.
You've got your timeline wrong. Trump had us leaving in May and he put conditions in place to make sure of a safe withdrawal. Biden scrapped that, and air power was pulled well before the troops were flown out a couple of weeks ago. That allowed the Taliban to take over the entire country as the Afghan Army fled before them and the Afghan president fled the country. You never, ever leave your fellow citizens behind. Biden was making no attempt to evacuate American citizens or our allies. He just pulled the troops out in the dark of night, leaving thousands of prisoners of war at Bagram air base who the Taliban released. Had to turn around and send 4500 troops back in to take over the international airport. And the British, French, and Dutch were sending out troops to rescue their citizens but not our military. Our citizens and allies were left to make their own way to the airport and many couldn't. Some of our allies have been executed. There's no making excuses here. You always, always take care of your citizens.

Biden followed that agreement until May when he delayed things and then finally withdrew the troops in August. Anyway, we shouldn't have been there for 20years and the dumb mfers who supported GWBush and wanted that war are to blame for this debacle and need to stfu about solutions to the shytshow their policy preferences created.
