They are definitely taking jobs from Americans. Funny how nothing else is mentioned about those Mexican nationals working on the bridge.
They aren't here just to pick crops and scrub toilets anymore. Not for a looong time.
Their presence also directly disqualify native born citizens from job opportunities.
Ten years ago I was looking for work. A local lumberyard offered employment for a person to drive a flatbed and deliver wood and construction supplies.
I had the appropriate license, years of accident free courier experience, and as I had worked a couple years in a cabinet shop many years prior I am able to safely operate all of the appropriate tools, and am able to identify many different kinds of hardwoods, types and dimensions of lumber, and know how to identify the ratings and applications for all different kinds of plywood.
In the job description it also stated: "must speak Spanish." I applied, and during the interview I was rejected due to the fact I am not fluent in Spanish. I definitely know alot of words, but I am far from able to have a long conversation in that language.
In another local employment advertisement, there was an offer of minimum wage to shovel out horse stables. In the job description it very emphatically stated more than once: "must speak English!"
Think about that for awhile, savor the delicious irony, and have a good laugh.
It has been said that a component of humor is irony. It has also been said that: "our sincerest laughter with some pain is fraught."
