What works in a country of 60 million, with a different system of government, wont necessarily work in a country of 350 millionItaly currently has 30000 of them

They could have a two or three person company and call it a co-op.What works in a country of 60 million, with a different system of government, wont necessarily work in a country of 350 million

Current system not working too well
quite sure coops produce more equality than capitalismIt doesn't matter. The problem is that some people will always believe they deserve to have everything at the expense of everyone else. They will find a way to game any system to consolidate money and power. The only solution is to change the people. Capitalism is simply a better system for allowing people to invest in themselves and build something of their own, and resisting the funneling of all money and power into the hands of a few. It doesn't stop that process, just slows it down. Communism/socialism accelerates it.

mondragon prime example where elected execs only make 12x the lowest paid worker vs CEOs in america who do 350x
guys i listen to disagree. chomsky and wolff both say it is. but the word socialism as you know has a variety of meanings.Once again, co-ops are not incompatible with capitalism, they are simply an alternate company structure. Co-ops are not socialism any more than corporations are capitalism.

yea ive always thought power is the defining feature too and that using these words like socialism or capitalism obscures it too and ive realized this not long ago.Which makes coming to an understanding about it difficult. Now they're trying to call it stakeholder capitalism. None of it matters because, whatever anyone calls it, or whatever definition they use when using the term socialism, it only obscures the problem.
The real problem being the centralization of power vs the decentralization. People organize themselves into hierarchies naturally. It is a function of natural circumstances. There must exist a balance between centralizing decision making enough to be effective for the survival of the group, and not allowing that centralized decision making to be unaccountable to the group. That is at the core of the philosophy of the founding of the United States. One of the hurdles to holding power accountable is that power is good at convincing a large number of people that its actions are good and just, even when it is clear that what is happening is atrocious.
