The text is plain. No religious test to hold office.
You're twisting it though. That was designed to protect everyone from being forced into a particular faith or sect in order to serve. Such was the case in much of Europe. They weren't taking into account other religions or non-belief. Show me the Congressmen or Presidents back then who openly advocated atheism.

The amount of written and recorded history during the formative days of the nation is limited therefore you really can't say that they were ALL religious people. In addition America has never had and never will have an official state religion and God can be whatever you want it to be.
I once made a delivery to a small town Methodist church. Out of the parsonage walks the motorcycle fanatic minister dressed head to toe in Harley motorcycle leathers and gear on his way to a biker rally. He said to me: "On this nice day you should be out riding your bike". My answer: 'Yeah, I have bike, I don't worship it I just ride it. In fact pal I have to wonder just exactly what it is you actually worship, God or the internal combustion engine? Or is the internal combustion engine your God'?
That clueless poorly educated clown of a minister just stood there with that shot in the nuts look on his face. I made a fool out of him and he knew it. True religious conviction was totally absent with this guy. It was just an easy job. I saw a year or so ago where the Methodist Conference had taken him out of that assignment but I don't know if they sent him someplace else or simply got rid of him.

I do expect immigrants to assimilate and have the values and language of their new homeland ... and don't they dare to fly the flag of the country from which they migrated from.
I already know you are a s:censored2:ty Socialist American so I don't expect you to get it.
If you were trying to immigrate to the USA, I would hope you would be rejected.
I know, right? I’m still waiting for southerners to assimilate. And that friend’n flag!

That’s a crazy interpretation. It says there shall be no religious test to hold office, but you claim they meant a person had to be a Christian and worship the Christian god in order to hold office. They intentionally created a secular government for good reason.

Ain't my flag and I never had one or flew one ... I only fly the Good Old USA flag.
I saw that flag more in Indiana & Illinois than I did down here in the South when I traveled up to Peoria a couple months back.
Why don't you stay right where you are and fix your surrounding countryside!

They were mostly Christian Deists like Jefferson and Adams were and myself today.
Jesusists are essentially Christian Deists but stay away from the use of Christian because that implies the belief in the Supernatural Jesus. Christ is Jesus's form after his resurrection.
Another aspect of Christian Deists is they absolutely rejected the idea of Atheism.

You think the president’s comments weren’t racial? Ok.
I admit I didn't hear all his remarks but the fact that he called out the Squat Squad based on their public criticisms of the USA didn't seem racial to me.
I don't know if there were other remarks he made that you are referring to ... I was out of town and never turned on a TV last Saturday, Sunday or Yesterday until I got back home.
My basis for this thread was made after reading the news on my iPhone during travel.
I know you are eaten up with TDS but fairly logical elsewise.

Nothing I saw was racist. But of course any criticism is attacked as racist.
