If you’re a current RPCD or a Swing/Cover whatever your area calls it, then this new 22.4 deal is going to kill and slowly snuff out the “protected” jobs into the future.
The 22.4 job doesn’t look that bad if you’re a glutton for punishment. It’s not bad money if you look at the pay scale but its certainly a pay cut over the long haul. All you part timers that are struggling with current pay rate that look at the job as an opportunity are selling yourselves short. This new contract isn’t necessarily a step down or backwards but rather a different direction. It’s going to be interesting to see how it all pans out.
Those of you that are closing in on retirement shouldn’t be too affected. It’s us Drivers at the beginning to middle that will take the brunt of it. But as always I have bills to pay and responsibility to attend to so I’ll just adapt since it is what it is.
