According to Peter Zeihan the guys in charge of Russia's defense ministry have siphoned off about 2/3rds of the funds intended for making weapons and ammunition for themselves. And that Russian casualties so far add up to most of the men sent into Ukraine. Just came out in a Pentagon leak that the head of the Wagner Group sought a secret deal with the Ukrainians to reveal locations of Russian troops. Looks like Russia isn't doing nearly as well as its supporters believe.

I don’t know if the Rand report addressed the issue but I’ve always been led to believe that Putin is pure Cold War and wants nothing more than to recreate the Soviet Union. I mean, hell, he’s already the richest man on the face of the earth.
Biden knew Putin wanted to, and chose to make policy decisions that enabled Putin to do so.
Crimea should have been a wake up call, but they didn’t care because we have war mongers on both sides of the aisle. Money to be made, plain and simple.
Well, you could just read the report yourself and it would’ve told you our intelligence has proven time and time again he has no desire to re-create the Soviet union or expansion. But reading is difficult you would rather just listen to what The propaganda tells you.
I realize Geo political issues are complicated for someone like you. But that report was written to give scenarios on what each side would most likely do, if a certain set of circumstances were to be accomplished. The United States chose to violate treaties agreements, and to poke the hornets nest, kind of like the kid at school, who whispered in to other kids ears to instigate a fight going, and then step back and watched. And now we pretend like we’re shocked? Nope this is exactly what the United States wanted. The only problem is some of the scenarios showed what would happen if things got out of hand, and some of that is beginning to happen.
So Biden forced Putin to invade a neighboring country? Like Hussein forced the US to invade Iraq?
