He was attempting to take Kyiv. He was attempting to take Odesa and cut off Black Sea access. He was losing big time until he massed his troops near the Russian border. He had every intent to take the whole country and either install a puppet or incorporate Ukraine back into Russia.
i also heard its going well for russia although their war machine is not strong which should make you question why NATO even exists

the war and sanctions are obviously hurting north america

No he wasn't. Lol

Have you ever heard of a feint?

Where did he say that? Do you have ANY evidence of this claim that isn't purely conjecture?

So tens of thousands of troops, tanks, constant shelling, slaughtering civilians, etc was all for show? They got their asses handed to them which is the last thing the Russians wanted.

President Vladimir Putin has compared himself to Peter the Great, saying he shares the the 18th-century tsar's goal of returning "Russian lands" to a greater empire.

Speaking after visiting an exhibition to celebrate the 350th anniversary of Peter's birth on Thursday, Putin drew a parallel to his own invasion of Ukraine.

"Peter the Great waged the Great Northern War for 21 years. It would seem that he was at war with Sweden, he took something from them," he said, according to a translation from Reuters. "He did not take anything from them, he returned [them]."

Referring to the Ukraine invasion he said: "Apparently, it also fell to us to return [what is Russia’s] and strengthen [the country].”
i was watching a timeline of who controlled what territory during ww2, and your favorite country finland was part of the axis.

Do you have any evidence attacking Kyiv was a feint? I"m going on what they actually did, not interpreting it to reach a conclusion I'm good with. You Russophiles are in denial.

Aren't you outraged about the Ukrainian neo nazis slaughtering civilians? I guess it's only bad if Russia does it (if they even did...it seems to me there has been a deliberate effort by the Russians to avoid collateral damage).

Russia may well have encountered greater resistance than they anticipated, but it doesn't mean they're getting their asses handed to them. Ukraine is running out of ammo, weapons, and according to a guardian article I read yesterday, is losing up to 500-1000 soldiers per day. The amount of Russian losses is much, much lower. Who's getting their asses handed to them now?

You have very little, if any consideration for nuance or grey area in anything you post. Finns and Germans were fighting and killing each other well before the end of WWII in Europe.

"Never a signatory of the Tripartite Pact, Finland was nonetheless a co-belligerent on the side of the Axis Powers. This was a result of the Soviet invasion of Finland, as sanctioned by the 1939 Molotov-Ribbentrop Pact.

With little or no support from other powers, Finland signed the Anti-Comintern Pact, an anti-communist agreement of mainly fascist powers, in November 1941. The main reason for Finland’s siding with Germany was to regain territory lost to the Soviets in the Winter War of 1939 – 1940.

As opposed to Axis Power states and affiliates, Finland granted asylum to Jews and had Jewish soldiers serving in its military.
It also refused to participate in the Siege of Leningrad.

By August 1944 Finland had a new president who began to hold secret talks with the Soviet Union, negotiating a peace by September, which also required the expulsion of German troops. This resulted in the Lapland War between Finland and Germany (September 1944 – April 1945)."

According to Zelensky it's 60 to 200 a day but less you forget Ukraine has millions of men at its disposal. The Russians flat out got whipped and retreated. And where are Ukrainians slaughtering civilians?

...

Nah

“How easy it is to say, ’Here, I’ll send you this much money for weapons,” Lopez Obrador said. “Couldn’t the war in Ukraine have been avoided? Of course it could.”
One thing that has become abundantly clear to me as I've researched this, is that nobody did more to avoid this conflict than Vladimir Putin himself.

No this is just what happens when religious folk see gays being embraced as individuals in their society and their religious morals as faulty.
They value the strong man dictator that enforces what they view as god’s will on people. I’ve seen one of these idiots call Russia a bastion of democratic western values or something stupid like that on here when this broke out.
It’s what happens when the right no longer believes america is a force for good in the world or that the world order is worth maintaining for future generations. Something the left agrees with whole heartedly.

People start saying stupid things like Russia tries to avoid conflict. Russia avoids bigger conflict for sure, attacking Ukraine before it was a nato member shows Russia’s intent for European democracies and why there is a nato in the first place.

When has America ever been a force for good in the world? Destabilizing entire regions and making more enemies is a negative in my book.
People start saying stupid things like Russia tries to avoid conflict.
Well, it's not stupid because it happens to be true. I didn't see the US or NATO proposing any draft treaties to avoid this. The ones Russia proposed are pretty good, by the way. Have you read them?
why there is a nato in the first place.
To destabilize the world and potentially cause a civilization ending conflict?

We aren’t gonna agree Russia is a force for good in the region and I’m shocked you still consider yourself American or Christian.
Good night.

Ever hear of the Peace Corps? Ever hear of the huge amount of aid given to poor countries, especially in time of famine? Ever hear of the U.S. spending its blood and treasure stopping the spread of Nazism? Communism? Muslim extremism?

Russian communism kept its people extremely poor. Kept its neighbors extremely poor. The fall of communism left a Russian state where the strong grabbed power and the poor are only a little better off under oligarchy. But hey, their super rich have huge yachts, so there's that. I very much doubt the rich and powerful in Russia care about the church and morality. It's a tool to control the masses who do believe. If they cared they wouldn't have grabbed all the wealth for themselves but instead would be applying the principles of free market capitalism to build a strong middle class. They have the resources in that country to do just that. Instead you have a population that's drinking and smoking itself to death.

None of those things are our responsibility.
