Sweden decided not to shut down on the theory of letting it run it's course quickly thru the population and then be done with it.

Too early to tell. Their older population took a hit but what were their numbers in previous years? Did neighbor countries prevent deaths or just prolong the pain? No one knows.

The stock market trending up wasn't the overall economy. His economy was stagnant. It took cutting taxes and reducing regulations to get the economy going and getting unemployment way down. The only real improvement under Obama came after the Republicans recaptured the House in 2010. And better yet after getting the Senate back in 2014. Please remember that Obama not only had high unemployment but said "those jobs aren't coming back". And told business owners that they didn't build those businesses. He had no business experience and it showed. Early in the Trump administration people on this forum demanded to know where the jobs were. Said Obama was right. And they moved on to other things after the new jobs numbers went way up and unemployment came way down. Trump was willing to do what business owners said they needed. Obama wasn't.

Van believes the obvious nonsense that Republican policies turned the economy around. Reality is all trend lines for economic indicators continued from the Obama years. Our shut down was all about not over taxing our health care system. I do question whether the "cure" is more harmful than the disease.

Most people will survive but can they survive if they lose their jobs, businesses, homes , marriage , etc. The toll is going to be astronomical economically and social

very interesting . I always wanted to visit there , Finland, etc. Funny how he says they totally trust their government , zero corruption , black sheep ( free thinkers? ) . They have huge taxes and have cradle to grave security.

Hard to understand their philosophy. Meanwhile America has terrible problems with crime , corruption, corrupt government but people all over the world are beating down our doors to live here.

I lived in South East Asia for several years. Everyone we spoke to wanted to live in the USA. The opportunity to do what you want and the hope of getting rich is the American Dream and still alive and well. In most countries there are too many barriers for personal success.

I'm hoping though we here in America could adopt some of their ideas to make America a better place, especially their prison system. Social programs and socialism costs money and therefore more taxes but the tradeoff seems positive.

In America the distance between the haves and have nots is widening all the time and the middle class is being decimated which is really the backbone of America.

We are headed towards another violent revolution if we are not already there.

Tell that to all the people who got not only jobs but also better pay. Tell that to all the improved 401k's. Tell that to the millions who got more take home from less taxes. Tell that to all the minorities he helped with jobs. While we're at it how come Dems never pushed sentencing reform? Took Trump to get that through. I agree with some of this. Unfortunately, distrust of govt as well as media is pretty high over here.
