Time To End The Shutdown?

Neither can you. Hilarious. All that really matters is who wins in November.

I'll point out that unemployment rates reported by the DOL are based entirely on claims for unemployment benefits. It does not take into consideration people who have stopped looking for work or who have run out of benefits. Of course the rates were going down, so many people were out of work for so long that they ran out of unemployment benefits. They were reporting 3% unemployment under Obama when the real rates were well into the double digits. It's sad that they have to use such a misleading statistic to even hope to put Obama in a good light.:(

Lol. Hurr Durr. Unemployment rate is a bad stat to judge unemployment, it’s made up to make Obama look good. Trump brought the rate down super low. He’s the best!

Btw the chart doesn’t show unemployment at 3% under Obama.

I do remember the government showing better numbers than the reality because millions had given up trying to find a job. Hillary losing was also a referendum on how Obama did. People didn't want more of the same.

You remember being "told" the numbers were better than reality and you remember being "told" millions had given up!

Hillary losing was NOT a referendum on how Obama did!

Hillary lost because she had a lot of baggage, Comey broke rules and opened his mouth 2 or 3 weeks before the election and Russia interfered in our election!!!

Yes "some people" didn't want the "same" but it wasn't anywhere close to most of the people!! Not even 1/2 of the people!

That’s just Fox News spin to avoid giving Obama credit for turning the economy around.

It’s because democrats don’t need an excuse to destroy the private markets and people’s lively hoods. Their base loves that :censored2:.

Governor Baker is a Republican, who used to be in the Healthcare industry.

I didn’t vote for him, but he’s doing a great job.

Obama didn't turn it around. If it weren't for Republicans winning the House in 2010 he would have gone after his next objective after Obamacare: Cap-and-Trade, which would have been even worse for the economy than the recession.

Well when you can’t make the argument with actual data, cry that the data is biased and then pull random numbers out of your rear. Why not?

I used 3% because I remembered reading that claim. I never stated that the rate was actually at 3%, just that it had been reported as such. I will also say that I was wrong about how they calculate unemployment rates. It's not based on unemployment insurance claims, it is done by survey monthly. The DOL states, however, that it doesn't count people who aren't actively looking for work. That is the reason, as I stated before, why the numbers don't give an accurate picture on actual unemployment.

Beyond that, some media will use the unemployment insurance claims reports as their source for reporting the unemployment rates if and when it suits them. Those rates are unreliable for the reasons I gave before. The reality is more complex than what you might want to believe, but if you want to oversimplify the matter to justify your views, why not?
