Geez could we stop the finger pointing? The prudent thing to do from the start was to take mitigating the virus very seriously because we didn't know exactly what we were dealing with or how bad it could become. We also know the longer things are shut down the more damage to our economy, our livelihoods, our future will happen and that may ultimately kill more of us than the virus. We have to take that seriously too. 20%+ unemployment will lead to suicides, malnutrition, crime, collapse of overwhelmed social services. There is no on/off switch to restart the economy because when we finally go back to work many businesses won't be there to go back to. Make political hay all you want, but in serious crisis in times past Americans pulled together to get things done. It's time we start doing the same.
