Union - is it Socialism?

Wages are stopped from rising because government instituted a standard. When the standard was created it removed all competition in the workforce. We came up with labels such asinimum wage jobs. So workers no longer had anywhere to go to get a better wage. It then became normalized after a few years and here we are today.
i dont buy it, and whats your explanation for america's low vacations since its left to the market?

And what is stopping that guy from making more? From going to school and bettering himself and his Family? NOTHING! Everyone today has an opportunity ahead of them. If you disagree, then maybe you can tell UCLA to stop giving full rides to illegals. I will leave it to you to look it up since you Socialists don't like doing work.
its the capitalists who dont like doing work; they are profiting off of their workers hard labour.

maybe the government should spend less on military empire and stop defunding education

things that stop workers from making more money is working for a capitalist, living in an anti union country, voting for anti worker political parties (dems and republicans), trade deals, etc.

what stops people from going to school? cost of education, whether or not you will have a job in that field when you get out, giving up a job you already have which maybe be better than average, etc. the governments pays people to kill people around the world aka the military, but charges for school.

I said we need a free market...not that we have one. Also I'm very much against bailouts.
free market would only work if the news system was controlled by a handful of oligarchs. people cant make informed rational decisions under this system.

people usually vote corrupt politicians because of the media. theres a link between that and all the other poor decisions we make including part of the populations love of capitalism and other :censored2: economic systems.

Lol RickyB is one of those people that just focuses on the negatives. Raising the minimum wage to 15$ would only hurt the economy and hike up prices and lower the amount of jobs.
you say im negative (i am) and then you list a bunch of negatives about $15

So what's you suggest? Get rid of the big three auto makers and have people build from scratch cars in their garage? LOL cars would be ridiculously unreliable, they would never be able to keep up with demand, and the price would be unbelievably high. You would segregate the classes even more. Nobody but mega rich would own cars. So nobody could get to work.

Why are Socialist Hell bent on making the world go backwards? Big corporations doesnt necessarily mean monopoly.....for the most part it simply means they have scaled to demand.

Tesla is a new car brand. How are they breaking into a market that is according to you monopolized?
lots of guys i listen to are concerned about teslas financials for some time now.

so are you suggesting we should have even less car competition? ;) ford isnt making cars anymore, just trucks and SUVs i believe.

the world IS going backwards with the system we have. its not hard to tell.

the way things are going economically btw is in the future people wont be able to afford their own car; you will rent a seat on a car like an airplane.

And your solution to this is socialism? The system where people can't even afford bread and have no rights to own pretty much anything. That makes a lot of sense..

Maybe we should remove all the regulations in automakers and we would see prices come down. The auto industry is also prime for a correction right now.

I agree our economy isn't doing well. This is mostly due to wreckless government spending (wasted taxes, endless wars), and over/burdernsome regulation. It's hallowed out the middle class. This is why we need a small government that does nothing more than what the Constitution says.

LOL exactly what I'm talking about! Sweden isn't even a socialist country. Their economy is mostly capitalism but they have high taxes that started in the early 60's to redistribute wealth....since the 90's they have been abandoning high regulations, reducing their welfare state by lowering taxes, reduce govt size and shrink it's spending. They are abandoning socialism because it doesn't work and it drains all productive resources. Their own leaders even said this two years ago.....

Summary:when socialism started in the 60's the country headed downhill...

Plenty if articles out there.

You complain about stuff and beg for others to do things for you. You complain about having to work hard. You're entitled.

He is saying how $15 wage does more harm than good. My brother in-law is a Canadian. They recently went to a $14 minimum wage. Guess what. McDonald's fired most if their employees, stores are now only open 2-3 days a week instead of 5-7. Prices have already gone up. And more people are on unemployment. He hates Canada and can't wait till he becomes a citizen here.

The only place for opportunity in Canada is Toronto, Montreal, and Vancouver. Everywhere else in the country it's pretty much undeveloped. Or small towns with not much in them. Even bigger towns like Waterloo, Owensound, Windsor etc.

And as we’ve discussed, there is no truly capitalist state either.

The Swedes tax at a very high rate but what it’s citizens get in return is impressive. The US taxes at a relatively low rate and gets what? Bloated military spending, unfunded wars, huge debt, questionable social programs. What’s wrong with this picture?

Did u read the article? Nothing they get is good. They get terrible and inefficient healthcare. They get no savings, they get 130 year mortgages they never pay off.....why do you want to take people's freedom? Why can't you just leave people alone and let them decide how to live their lives?

For these sacrifices of financial freedom, this is what Sweden offers their citizens in benefits:

  • Pension
  • Healthcare
  • Unemployment Insurance
  • Education through PhD Level
  • Child Day Care
  • Very generous leaves of absence from work with benefits including: education up to 6 months, starting your own company up to 6 months off, parental leave up to 16 months with 80 percent of your pay during time off
  • 16 public holidays (10 of these holidays are Christian-based, even though just five percent of the population are regular church attenders).
Now, there are obviously problems and all systems have problems. But there is no reason the US can’t do it better.
