If his center is coding everybody as 05, there should be some major housekeeping done.

It's been like that since I've been a driver through many rotations of management. I cover my shop stewards route and his board is set to 05.

A lot of our boards are set up code 05 as well. I change my pay code to 06 every day before I punch in though.

Code 06 is used for drivers who are guaranteed 8 hours every day and since I fall into that category I will use that code every time. I don't need permission to make sure my time card is correct.
