Mgr was on a check ride with me in AZ. I walked up to a Great Dane standing on her hind legs behind a fence and started petting her while my mgr, who was probably lighter than the dog, hung back in fear. She got all over me for not being more cautious. Never told her that I had delivered there the day before, and the dog was a total sweetheart. Heard later mgr was telling others I was some kind of dog whisperer lol!

This is a weird thread. I assume it was in response to the name change of Washington football team. But of course the example that's used isn't equivalent to that team's former name. It's a leprechaun, that comes from Irish mythology. That teams name was not based on a mythical native character.

Here are the two sides of this debate, on one side are people saying hey this name offends my ethnicity/culture it should be changed.

On the other side are people saying we don't care if it offends your ethnicity/culture and what you want doesn't matter.

The opposition of the team's name change want to maintain the dominate cultural power to keep that name over the objection of the outgroup. For the opposition of the name change, the battle it is about saying "WE" get to decide if that name is acceptable. "WE" get to determine what's offensive, what is outside of polite society, not these whining lesser groups. It means they are losing power to them. This is why they get so upset. It's not about the name change per se, it what that name change represents to them, a lose of power to dictate what happens.

This thing is a microcosm of most American political fights.

There are many sides to the debate. Many native Americans are not offended by the team name. You try to pigeonhole all native Americans as having the same opinion because it fits your racist narrative.

For decades polls have been taken among Native Americans as to how they feel about their images being used for team mascots. Overwhelmingly they have been positive about such mascots. They feel it reflects their strength in the face of great adversity. However a small percentage of mostly younger Native Americans as well as their far Left white compatriots have been pushing the whole cultural appropriation theme. THEY know better what the rest of us should think and support. Getting to the point of complete idiocy.
