America did a lot more than just build some schools. The Philippines broke the imperialist sentiment in America, it took away that veil of we are the good guys and god’s people doing god’s work.
It inspired a lot of work from Mark Twain. Especially after that whole Spanish american war debacle.
Looked it up, the American-Filipino War was fought 1899-1902. Twain died in 1910. Other than writing some opinions about it what else did he do?

The only true American colonialism was taking over Spanish possessions and grabbing Hawaii. Can't begin to compare to European colonialism, especially the British Empire. We however let the Filipinos vote for their independence, we got out of our two major military bases there as our leases expired when they asked us to, and we've given Puerto Rico numerous chances to vote for independence, statehood, or remain a commonwealth. I don't see us invading and dominating all over the world like the Europeans did.
That’s because you view all American land as ours and rightfully ours since the founding of our nation.
Which at this point it is, but during that time we were pursuing this little thing called manifest destiny and the Mexican american war.

America wasn’t just colonizing countries, we were sort of conquering land mass and genocide native peoples. You can justify it any way you want, but America isn’t cleaner or more just than the Europeans at the time when it comes to imperialism.

Which countries did we colonize? We administered the Philippines, but we didn't send over thousands of families to be a ruling class. And literally in every corner of the world throughout history people have lost their land to other groups who were either numerically superior, technologically superior, or both. As for the Mexican-American War, we went into that war with less than 6000 troops. The Mexicans had a standing army of 700,000. They didn't like Texas becoming a state and they started that war. And paid dearly. And genocide? Most Native Americans who died after the Europeans landed did so from diseases the Europeans brought that they had no immunity for. If we were looking to kill them all then why are there reservations everywhere? You buy into the same tired liberal nonsense.

I’m not denying disease killed a lot of them, but it’s stupid to say America didn’t play a roll in it. That we didn’t mistreat native Americans and do them horribly or that American is not imperialistic at all with its expansionist agenda. Just because we absorbed the land we conquered doesn’t mean we are not imperialist, we just left the people with no land or sovereignty, unlike the Europeans.

Where the hell did you read Mexico had a 700,000 standing army in the 1800’s. That doesn’t even sound plausible.

Maximo Alvarez was born in Cuba, not Spain. He argued that policies favored by prominent Democrats, such as free health care, and calls to defund the police are “false promises” that “sound familiar” based on his experiences in Cuba. He became a citizen in the United States and made something of himself and has a stark warning about communist Fidel Castro type policies.

Native Americans did not assimilate ... let that be a warning for all newcomers to the USA!

The Navajo Nation would dispute that. From east to west it was warfare with different groups. Should we demand the Muslims leave the Middle East? Used to all be Christian land. The Europeans had to drive the Muslims out of southern Europe. As well as the Huns, who killed a million Europeans. Had to repel the Mongolians. The Incas and the Aztecs dominated the native groups around them. Have you never contemplated how did about 500 Spaniards ever conquer the Aztecs? Or Incas? They had tens of thousands of Indian allies who saw in them the chance to overthrow their masters. But the Spanish weren't any better. There's a reason all those Spanish speaking countries are no longer controlled by Spain. To date the most successful Indian uprising in what is now the U.S. was the Pueblo Indians throwing the Spanish out of Santa Fe. Ran them all the way back to what is now Juarez, Mexico. And the Spanish worked to death 6 million natives and thousands of African slaves in a Potosi, Bolivia silver mine. So the Americans have a long way to go to match the dominance of other peoples that the Europeans were guilty of.

Look it up. Santa Ana stylized himself as the Napoleon of the West. Most of those troops were poorly armed and trained, which is why we ran over them all the way to Mexico City.

The Americans assimilated the natives by forcing their children be sent to Indian schools a long way from home. Literally taught them how to act and look white. During WWII blacks were segregated but not Native Americans.

You can’t really deny there was a lot of bad done to Indians by Americans. Just because most were already wiped out from disease doesn’t mean we didn’t kill a sizable chunk of what was left of them.

Yeah I know about the industrial boarding schools of America and how they inspired Canada’s similar program run by good christian values.
I think Cananda is still estimating the legal damage of allowing Catholics to rape children through out the 50’s. Including little girls, not just those mean ol homos.

Chivington did massacre a band of peaceful Arapaho. And all throughout the Indian Wars the natives massacred whites. Geronimo killed about 3000 white settlers and over 30,000 Mexicans. He hated Mexicans. They once lured him and other men to a celebration. And sent troops to slaughter the women and children of his village while the men were gone, including his wife and child. He was hell on them ever since.

The American Indian schools were over by the 50's but I may be wrong. Different times, but as long as they were treated well I'd rather have the schools than constant warfare.
