Last year, United Parcel Service (UPS) pre-ordered 10,000 zero-emissions electric delivery vans from EV startup Arrival to lower the company’s carbon footprint and reduce overall emissions. UPS is now upping its game and has signed a deal to buy up to 150 eVTOL aircraft from Vermont’s Beta Technologies. The delivery company expects to begin using the plane for time-sensitive zero-emissions deliveries in 2024; taking off and landing will take place on-site at UPS depots.

Beta’s Alia aircraft is inspired by the shape of the Arctic tern – an Alaskan bush plane that was produced in small numbers between the 1970s and 1980s. The Alia-250c is a transitioning fixed-wing aircraft with four big, drag-minimizing VTOL props attached on bars extending forward and backward from the wings. The rear also includes a single pusher prop for efficient wing cruising.

A 6-year-old Stockton boy battling leukemia had a big wish granted by the Make-A-Wish Foundation on Wednesday.

One of Mateo’s favorite things is watching delivery drivers drop off packages at his home.

“I just watch my mailman go by my house, and I thought, ‘Hmm, I want to be a mailman one day,’” he told FOX40.

Wednesday morning, Mateo found out his wish was coming true.

Mateo and his family watched as a UPS truck pulled up in front of Macy’s in Stockton, delivering him his very own uniform, along with a toy UPS truck to take home.

“We got technicians building a package car special for him. Absolutely awesome. It’s going to be beautiful, off the hook,” said UPS Northern California President Josh Needles.

After pulling his truck over, a UPS driver lent a helping hand to an elderly woman trying to cross a busy intersection.

The UPS driver, Dedrick ‘Dee’ Galloway was seen helping the woman cross the intersection of Witzel Avenue and Lake Point Drive in Oshkosh. Mary Zillges captured the act on camera and thought it was something wonderful.

The woman used her walker to step off the curb multiple times but was hesitant to cross the busy intersection. That is when Galloway stepped in to help out.
