I think the large retailers we talked to are cautious this year. they do expect to see increased sales. We don’t think it’s going to be a huge increase over last year.I think it’s going to be a little more of a cliff hanger, though, because of this tighter shopping season. All of us, u.p.s. and all the retailers will waiting to see as customers realize they don’t have as many days left to finish their shipping. Myself included as a bad procrastinator. We’ll see a big rush, actually, the week before christmas and our largest day will be December 16th when we pick up over 34 million packages.

In what is an attempt to disrupt the businesses of UPS and FedEx, Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos unveiled Amazon PrimeAir on 60 Minutes Sunday, Amazon’s new drone delivery service, which it hopes will allow it to get packages into the hands of customers in 30 minutes or less.
“I know this looks like science fiction,” Bezos said during the interview, while unveiling the automated delivery drones. “It’s not.”

New Pricing Takes Effect December 30, 2013
UPS® today released new published rates for 2014. UPS Ground, Air and International, and Air Freight rates within and between the U.S., Canada, and Puerto Rico will increase an average net of 4.9 percent.
Updated rate and service information will be posted on www.ups.com/rates, beginning today. Customers can download the 2014 UPS Rate and Service Guide on Dec. 30, 2013, when the new rates take effect.
