Bernie Sanders 2016

I'm talking about getting things done. In a Jeffersonian Democracy, things get messy. "Give and take" is the only thing that works. It's easy for West and Sanders and Gingrich and Cruz to stand by on ideology and lambast the pragmatic nature of politics with loud-mouthed speeches on how America "should be". But what do they ever accomplish? Stupid gridlock and dysfunction. Really, if Sanders had won and actually become president, in quick time he would be marginalized or he would become exactly like Clinton. Obama was no pretend liberal and look where he's ended up.
the political system is broken for the average citizen.

the only things that "get done" are things that benefit the biggest corporations. obama is right of center and serves corporate power, and hillary is to the right of obama between him and W bush. obama and hillary just use the language of liberalism during their campaigns, but they do not make reforms when in office. they are making things worse, and they know it.

i think bernies campaign was a big accomplishment for americas being able to rationally criticize their economic system. and before that he was speaking out, he had alot of viral videos. its hard to measure what effect some of its had, but the point is hes doing the right thing regardless of the outcome.

cornel wests career speaks for itself, hes up there with the greats.

Bernie has done a great job of pointing out the breaks in the system. He has done nothing to fix them until he endorsed Hillary. Think about it. Bernie Sanders got reelected over and over in Vermont. How would he talk to Wall Street? To Washington? Simply declare them the enemy? No. Theres a lot of work to be done and having a left leaning president who's been in the game for thirty years is far better than one who caught fire 18 months ago. And yes, it's incredibly sad, but it is a game.

Cornel West can keep giving speeches...not that it makes any difference to the powers that be.

hillary is not left. shes a corporatist. like i said shes to the right of obama and to the left of bush which makes her right wing. but i dont think she supports conservative values anymore than george bush said he would and did nothing to defend. they all primarily support massive corporate interests.

u might look into cornel west. hes had one hell of a career and is an example to all of us. and wasnt jesus willing to die at the hands of the roman empire for his political beliefs too? cornel west is a christian who actually practices what he preaches

Here's a news flash for you: America has been tilted pretty far right for 3 and a half decades. Sure Hillary was a corporatist. Who wasn't? Bernie? Ok. West? Ok. Warren? Now what kind of a movement do you see coming from these three and all their followers with nobody in Congress or at state and local levels? Remember Occupy Wall Street? WTF happened to them? Get in their Cadillac Escalades and drove out to the 'burbs most likely. I mean really, our choices this year suck but the "pragmatist, corporatist" Clinton is far and away much better than a Trump debacle.

yes im aware US has been right wing since 1980s.

yea i guess clinton is a lesser of 2 evils...im not sure, havent heard enough to know. right now the centre is falling out of power, and people are either swining hard left (by american standards) or hard right via neo fascism. the fact is in 4 years you may very well have a more overt fascist than trump gaining popularity, so going the usual lesser of 2 evils shouldnt be an option right now. the problems will not get better, theyre going to get worse under clinton.

occupys legacy is they broke the taboo on criticizing capitalism which i was a part of. some of them joined black lives matter. occupy paved the way for bernies critique on capitalism and running as a socialist. inequality became one of the top issues because of occupy.

and no...occupy did not get in their cadillacs. they continue to endure an economy where the jobs have been outsourced, the political system is unresponsive, and they hold high crushing debts. i wouldnt look to warren or sanders starting a movement. its gonna come from below.

“Let’s not forget that Bernie has a very checkered past,” Hedges said. “He campaigned for Clinton in ’92. He campaigned for Clinton again in ’96, after NAFTA — the greatest betrayal of the working class in this country since the Taft-Hartley Act of 1948 — after the destruction of welfare, after the omnibus crime bill that exploded the prison population, and, you know, we now have—I mean, it’s just a monstrosity what we’ve done — 350,000 to 400,000 people locked in cages in this country are severely mentally ill.”

“Half of them never committed a violent crime. That’s all Bill Clinton. And yet he went out and campaigned. In 2004, he called on Nader not to run, to step down, so he could support a war candidate like John Kerry. And I’m listening to Jealous talk about the Iraq War. Sixty percent of the Democratic senators voted for the war, including Hillary Clinton. The idea that somehow Democrats don’t push us into war defies American history.”"

Hate for what reasons?
he talks pretty black and white in terms of markets and government when the truth is much more complex.

ive seen quite a few of his videos and ive continued to come across them. he did a good one recently when he was commenting on terrorism and american imperialism terrorism.

“If he was sincere, then I would hope that tomorrow or maybe today he could send out a tweet and tell his Republican colleagues to stop wasting their time and all of our time. And for Mr. Trump to tell the American people that he will veto any proposal that cuts Medicare, that cuts Medicaid or that cuts Social Security.”

That promise, like any promise by any politician, is hardly worth the battery power to tweet it.

Wasn't there a clause in Obamacare that took money away from Medicare ?
Nope but it must be unraveled from Obamacare like a lot of things.
That's one of many reasons they just can't repeal it.
It must be untangled at many layers and many points.
Of course, that was the intent.
