bus crash kills at least 10 after FedEx truck collision

A four month old is at the mercy of others who have free will, a victim of other's choices, much as we are in our jobs.

God WILL come back to this world one day and set things straight, making this world a paradise.

I do talk to God, but he doesn't fill me in personally. I learn from the Bible, which is the only book that predicts the future accurately, all the time.

Marx saw what he wanted to see and put his spin on things, much like Fred. He screwed over a lot of people. And you trust what he said?

Kmart sux. So does Walmart. And Orion.

A lot of scientists think the Bible might actually be a regular book, as opposed to a Holy Book. You said we had free will, so again, why does a 4-month old who is completely innocent and unaware that they have "free will" lose their life? God could have stopped it. I'm not agreeing with all Marx said, just his comments on religion, which make sense. Most people don't want to die, and the offer of ever-lasting life or an existence of a life better than the one they have here is appealing...an opiate that calms fears and "answers" all of the questions to which there are no answers. Religion conveniently fills these needs.

I don't deny that there is a God, but I question His existence. That makes me an agnostic. Proof is all I need...faith isn't adequate. God can prevent tragedies, so why doesn't he?

Please explain how a 4-month old has "free will". Also, how do you know all of this? Did you talk to God, or did you just read the comic book? Here's one. Why doesn't God just pay us a visit, take care of the A-holes, and make this world a paradise? Why all the games? Marx was right. Religion is the opiate of the masses.
See that's, my point. He posts, "God gives us free will"....Not Robots.." But when God didn't like someone He'd turn them to Salt or in the case of Noah, he drowned the entire world because people weren't doing what he wanted. And how is it possible to have two lions and two zebras on the same ark for 40 days and night and somehow those Zebras didn't get eaten? I grew up with Sunday school and church almost every weekend. But as an adult, the stories stopped making sense to me along with the world is just too evil to think someone is overseeing all of this and, with great power, letting it all happen. We have the same freedom not to believe just as the person who chooses to believe. We all die.

There are only two things in life that are certain. Anyone want to guess what they are?

I am no champion of religion. But one thing I loathe is a blasphemous communist/socialist....(call it or identify with what you will). Your lack of faith in anything is certainly apparent. When all of this probably could have been changed if God or Fred S just let you make what a UPS driver made an hour.

I believe in God because a world without hope isn't much of a world. I've questioned it all too. The Old Testament is mostly a history of the rich and powerful. Pretty much the same thing happens now. And it seems the message in the New Testament is behave and follow the rules and you'll get your reward after you die. But the teachings of Jesus would certainly make a better world if we would just follow them. The early church was full of people who did that, often dying rather than renounce their faith. It comes down to a choice, be angry and bitter about the world or try to make the world around us a little bit better by being a Christian. I've certainly had my share of anger and bitterness dealing with a company that puts money above all else. My life is better now putting that behind me. I don't know for a fact that there is a reward waiting for me somewhere, but I do believe that my life is much better pursuing that reward.

Its all good.

I don't have a good answer why a 4 month old would die. It doesn't seem fair to him/her, the parents, or anyone. God has the power to do anything anytime, but he doesn't use that power in all situations. When I or family members encounter challenges, I look at the life of Joseph. He went through all kinds of difficulty and disappointments, but these led him to a position where he could save the lives of thousands of people, maybe more. You don't know why things happen immediately, sometimes you never know.

For the first half of my life I considered myself an agnostic. I wasn't hostile towards God, just not sure he existed. I gradually came to faith over a period of years. The theory of evolution seems logical and attractive at first, but has a lot of holes in it when you start to look closer. When you look at the origin of life, no one has a credible explanation for how life began. And lately more and more of the things mentioned in the bible are being given credibility by scientific and historical discoveries. Evolution says that dinosaurs existed millions of years ago, but a scientific discovery approximately 25 years ago somewhere in Texas Gould a dinosaur footprint on the same level of sedimentary rock as a human footprint. I guess this was covered up by people that didn't want evidence conflicting with their theory, but it was front page news when it came out.

People will spin what they want, you have to look at things for yourself and not trust the spin doctors who want to manipulate us to believing their lies and half truths. Start digging and you'll be surprised.

I once read a fascinating piece on Job. God makes no excuses for putting Job through living hell. In fact, it was suggested that when God commanded Job to, "Gird up your loins..." and proceeded to question him, God wasn't even angry. There was no reason to be angry. God had decided to use Job as a game piece with the devil. God didn't ask permission. It seems petty, but God gets to be like that. I don't like it that children are abused, die and all of life seems muddled with anguish but like Job I am compelled to pronounce, "The Lord giveth and the Lord taketh away. Blessed be the name of the Lord."

I absolutely love who preach to others what they should or should not believe in. I have my beliefs but I keep them to myself unless someone asks. I find the ones who preach and tell people they are wrong are the first to cry foul if someone preaches to them

Several people in this thread. This whole discussion has turned from recognizing a tragedy to a :censored2: show about what is real and what is not. Shame.

Maybe. But it is a powerful event and that naturally will bring discussion of the divine. I don't really see it as preaching so much as the "search" continuing. Neither believer not atheist is going to persuade another on BC. But their own ideas may change through continued dialogue...probably without them noticing it happening.
