Cameras

It was my understanding (now misunderstanding) that there would be no cameras in the UPS vehicles period! "NO CAMERAS" they said, "NO CONCESSIONS"!! Now the talk is no inward facing cameras! What happened to "no concessions"? If it is agreed to, that we will have forward but not inward, will they still pick up sound? Forward facing cameras will tell on you for following to close and the company decides what is to close. We all know being in traffic can be a bitch and if you let out of it every time someone gets in front of you it continues to slow you down, which is never a problem to slow down (slow down and give yourself a raise, I get paid by the hour), but then they want to know why you are going slower!:nono2: If you come to a stop sign and go through it quicker than the company says you should have been stopped, then they are after you again. It becomes a never ending cycle of you should do it this way and that way instead of us being allowed to do our jobs. Rules are rules, but micro managing is what we are all tired of and this is just another way for them to do it. Any type of camera is bad!

Inward is really all that matters IMO. I’m fine with outward. They are never going to check outward unless there is an accident. Drive the right way and outward can only help, never hurt.

Being this mad (and hey I get it) is exactly where management wants you to be. Stressed and fearful for your job.

There’s nothing package management loves more than a pissed off driver. Shows you’re invested. I could see the smoke coming out of their ears when I used to stroll in two minutes before start time without a care in the world.

Co doesn't even have videos from LYTX cameras unless there is an incident the insurance co deems risky. Follow the methods. An outward facing camera could save your job.

Inward...eff that.

The newer hubs are like a casino as far as video coverage goes and the older hubs are being retrofitted to similar capabilities....

....where was/is the outrage for that???

Having cameras mounted on the ceilings in hubs watching the sort isle, load, unload, preload is a big difference than having a camera mounted on your windshield a foot from your face watching you all day long.

If the union caves on cameras, which would in effect be an all day OJS, there is no hope, no union.

So a couple months ago maybe we watched a vid for one pcm of a driver driving down a middle turning lane and passing cars. It was an outward facing camera and there was no accident. He braked hard at one point which is what must of activated the camera recording. But the footage got into ups hands and we were made to watch it. Again no accident happened but there was some STUPID driving going on. So they get footage if there is no accident.

So, this is the question, is the outward facing camera a liability? If the driver is driving like an assbag, should he be disciplined? What about when a camera proves a driver did everything possible to avoid an accident? This is the argument I always here management make. What say you @Bubblehead ? @542thruNthru ? @Thebrownblob ?
