Can my supervisor really do this?

really? theres no discrimination when we no longer need your service and as the company goes we staff our operations efficiently. Once you make your guarantee we can pick and choose who we get to keep. so no.. senority has no say who gets to stay unless like i stated before.. junior employee makes over time..

...And just like I thought.. Section or Article... NOT FOUND....

By the way you would have to prove discrimination and by the least to say those are serious allegations so make sure you know what your getting into. Because once you do....there's no going back and so you know the company was build on integrity. You wouldnt want anyone to question yours.

I asked this question in the UPS Discussions thread too but it probably belongs here...

My supervisor lately has had it out for me and as a loader for 2 years I have the most seniority on my belt. Anyways he's mad because he doesn't like the fact I use that to get the most hours so what he does is and I'm not joking, he starts me at 11 and the rest of the belt at 11:01 so I can't stay later than any of them. He says because I started "earlier" I can't use my seniority. This can't be right can it?

Grieve it, stop playing good boy, tomorrow go in
put in a greivence against that supervisor. period
playing nice guy will get you no where good luck

Seniority is given prime consideration, therefore there must be a good reason this is happening otherwise it fall under discrimination. I've filed this on supervisors 3 times and I won 3 times. Your center obviously has a terrible shop steward

I would have a field day if you pulled this crap on me. You'd be shining my shoes within a week.

If you think that someone grieving this wouldn't win, you're naive. Like I said, been there done that. You would lose everytime

your all talk. It actually makes me laugh that i see that attitude all over the operations but at the end of the day you work as instructed.. Especially when your being sent home. if you decide to stay.. well i guess thats on your time. So not only will you work for free you'll also get written up for failure to follow and get escorted out the building. you pick and choose your battles, but i guarantee you this much you wont win all of them.

and as Far this so called Art 44 section 1? ARTICLE NOT FOUND..

did you make that up? I'm pretty sure you did..def not in the supplement and the national... not that it applies but it wasnt there neither lol so line up all your grievances so it can all get denied!!!!

As long as you are getting your guarantee on hours he can, but if they stay longer than you file a grievance. Even it is one minute. Watch to see if supervisors are working after you clock out and if anyone is running recycles around the building that has less seniority than you file.

Jace you talk about time as if you aren't here to waste yours. You obviously have no concept of the contract or the way things really work when someone isn't swayed by the scare tactics employed by management. Either you really are this stupid, or you enjoy messing with people, aka wasting your time. I think you need to change shifts where the majority of the senior employees reside. You would have your eyes opened fairly quickly. Very weird there is a book, with words in it, that both sides agreed upon, and you are the imbecile to come here and say "NO" this thing does not exist. All of your posts read like the fairytale of an uninformed, therefore unintelligent waste with the wool pulled right over your eyes. Too dumb to question the disinformation fed to you, you make yourself look like a maroon with every additional post. Go play YES MAN to the guy above you, which is nearly EVERY single managerial entity in the company.

you guys all need to get another job...UPS is way too much a part of your life, your job shouldn't have that much effect on each and every person in this forums life. I have worked at UPS for 7 years and the day i figured out that UPS is not my life, the day i became a happier person, so im quitting this summer and suggest to the supervisor JACE, and the 10 ignorant UNION guys to stop arguing and get a life, go back to college, earn a degree, do something you like, because the 11 people involved in this argument are most likely uneducated because if you all did have degrees you wouldnt be arguing over petty general issues such as whats in a union book and whats not. THE UNION BOOK IS VAGUE AND GENERAL for a reason. ITs so union employees can reach middle ground with management not fight. seriously...go to college...

Since when do you have to have a degree in order to be educated? I know plenty of people that have degrees and are completely stupid. They are usually the ones that get into management. If you knew anything about the contract book, you would know that it is not vague. Yes there are some thing that are left open for interpretation but the majority of everything is spelled out. Arguing over seniority is not a general issue. Seniority is the basis of unions. With out what else do we have. If quitting is what make you happier than getting you insurance paid for you, getting paid vacations/holidays/personal/sicks days, job protection with a guaranteed pay increase every year then good for you. That just shows how uneducated you are cause of the current state of the economy it is very hard to find decent jobs.

Your entire post is a gross preaching of personal opinion, thenry03. Who do you possibly think you are to make such a statement?

I was a part time local sort employee for 7 years in the Mid Atlantic District, I've seen/put up with far more BS than I care to recall or bore you guys and gals with. In the middle of February I was instructed to handle international packages a certain way to be held for the next day and corrected. 2 WEEKS LATER I was reprimanded on a conference call by a building sup who works out of a building 45 miles away, and had been on our shift ZERO times, a District Manager who used to be our center manager and HATED our union steward, and a supervisor, who, no joke...walks around with his butt exposed cause he refuses to wear a belt. When I questioned my international shipping sup, she told me that I did what I was told to do, but I had to listen to the bs being directed at me.

That was Monday, and as of Friday of that week I was done with UPS, getting back a stress free life, and the ability to enjoy my family. I would encourage any part timers who are stressed to the point it affects them that, UPS is not worth it, in comparison with your relationships and stress. Get out before it gets worse. When I started there in 2005, it was a great company, I worked my ass off, even when I was sick, and other issues were in play. I knew how to do every facet of the local sort, and do it well.

Good luck to all of you in your fights and careers. I'm so blessed to have my family back, and be a coach, and a Dad.

10 ignorant Union Guys. How do you know who you are talking to or about ? I have worked double you time @ UPS have been a steward for more than half that. Why I work pt @ UPS is my bussiness but my full time job is department manager and officer of a very successful company I make business decesions every day of the week and if I can lend some of my experience to stewarding the contract for my fellow teamsters it is grounded in common sense and knowledge of the current document. I have been around and in bussiness longer than some of the sups and managers have been alive. So if some sup wants to bully an employee by ignoring his seniority and the rights it gives him I am there to help. Please be careful in making statements like that.

Get you head out of your *****. Let me tell you just exactly why i say the things i say... obviously maroon.. I've experience being in that exact situation and the higher union seniority pt employee, bragging about having the highest seniority in the building, got escorted out the building by security.. when he failed to punch out as instructed. HOW embarrassing is that by the way the other employee that stood making almost 5 hours had just made book. So you tell me just exactly where does the contract enforces this issue? and please stop making fictional statements

P-s I did change my shift and i do work with full timers ... Makes no difference same concept except this time if you come in late your not guarantee anything!!!!!!!!!!!! prove me wrong!!!!
