mechanic question...

    ...probably a dumb question but,

    are they able to take vacation during peak? (December?)

    i can't imagine them having a period of "peak" during the year, you know.? lol

    I can't answer with complete accuracy but I would think not. More runs = more trucks on the road = more chances of vehicular malfunction. Peak = all hands on deck.

    Unlimited overtime for them, I would think.

    We have a day shift and 2nd shift mechanic. Back in the day during peak they both worked day shift. Not sure if that is still the case.

    We have one. It sucks when he has to cover for the Potsdam mechanic's vaca.

    Our mechanic was always on vacation.

    They get minimal OT by me. Get called in the office if they punch out late.

    Our mechanic gets called in to work a lot during peak and winter in general. Since we only have one mechanic, he is the only one you can call. He gets a lot of OT.

    Contractually no vacations from 11/31-12/26 if you are a machinist.....
