Think your pension will get a bailout from ups? Think again.
Right in the master agreement

Memorandum of Understanding
United Parcel Service, Inc. (Ohio and New York Corporation), as a
demonstration of its commitment to maintaining jointly adminis-
tered Teamster pension benefit plans, and to enhance the long term
stability of pension coverage for its employees represented by
Teamster Local Unions, agrees that for a period of ten (10) years
from the effective date of the National Master Agreement, it will not
solicit any signatory Local Union to change pension plans, either by
proposing such change during future negotiations of the National
Master Agreement or by encouraging its employees to advocate
withdrawal from participation in their current pension plan.

I don't get you man. You say we are on the wrong page, we are not thinking the same way. But what you just said, is basically agreeing that what has happened and what will happen is not right. It doesn't even sound right. Their cut? Goes back to my original question... Can we stop them from taking the next two wage increases? If so, How?

You are blaming the wrong party.

Wage diversions are initiated by the Union and voted on by the members.

UPS continues to pay you your full wage but before it gets to you the union takes their cut.

The company is not to blame for our pension woes.

Nothing in there saying that the union cannot make the first move.

I don't feel that way at all, if I have mislead you in some way I am sorry. It's not UPS I know who it is... All I've said is don't think for one minute you being out till 8:30 pm doesn't cross their mind. They have you cheaper than they would otherwise. In my case $2711.50 cheaper. Times that by 1000 pretty good savings.

I'm not lying about it. I have nothing to gain. I'm just reporting the facts. In my situation. Last year 2829 hours. Monster year. Very grateful to be healthy enough to do it. I want an answer. Can we overturn the majority vote on a referendum vote? Is that possible?

A wise old owl told me years ago. Never spend your OT, save it. I have. 401k and our own stock options. Very good options. Thanks for your concern.

I don't work past 8 pm even during Peak.

I know drivers that panic, if not getting almost 60 hrs a week.

In the past.... we've had drivers pick up stray pkgs from the cages, just to run them.

9:30 pm ETA.... ?? The company doesn't even blink.

All the management left @ 5:00 pm.

Some drivers want (and need) the OT. The ones that don't, sign the 9.5 list.

Last week we had a driver punch out at 2300. He was on a split route with way too much work. He had to get his kids on the bus the next morning and then drag his butt to work.

He was not a happy camper.

They were not happy with him.

I look at it differently. If they are willing to let me work for it. I will take it. 9.5 list is a new concept for me this year. I've needed to have a couple days here and there this year. Definitely a nice option, 2 times a month.

Are you saying that your local had a vote and that the majority voted in favor of diverting the next two split raises to the pension?

Last year 2169 hours.
