Well today is Wednesday and I just picked up my check, the day before the Holiday.
Ok, here's the official story.
There are a couple of locals that have a Thursday check date while everyone else has a Friday check date each week. If a holiday lands on the official pay day, the checks are usually issued for the day prior to the holiday. That's why the folks who normally get paid on Thursdays got paid on Wednesday last week.
However, for this week, EVERYONE will have a Friday check date. This is due to a payroll system limitation. The payroll system could not be open for processing both a Wednesday, Dec 31, 2014 and a Friday, Jan 2, 2015 check date...only one year at a time. The payrolls were completed earlier in the week and your bank/credit union may choose to make the funds available to you sooner but the official check date for this week will be Jan 2 and the earnings will be part of your 2015 earnings.
