Why is Christmas such a threat to some people?

I like the people who actually dress to the historical traditions that christmas once was and not this fakery we have now.

This was current fakery in it's day.

Reviling in traditions as sacrosanct sounds like something a religious zealot would do. :wink2:

Your great-grand-children will pine for the coca-cola Santa Claus of today.

Harry Jackson, 13, the head chorister at St Paul's Cathedral School sings Christmas carols inside the
cathedral in central London on Dec. 10.
Christmas is a busy time for the choir who will sing to over 20,000 people during the Christmas season.

Santa’s a giver, not a taker of free stuff, hence the reason he could never be a Democrat.
Via Public Policy Polling:
PPP’s new holiday season poll sees voters in giving moods towards both Barack Obama and Mitt Romney – voters believe both men will be receiving presents from Santa this holiday season rather than a lump of coal, with Romney perhaps getting some sympathy presents. Voters say Romney will get presents by a 63/37 margin compared to 51/49 for Obama. Some other findings:

- 44% of respondents said Santa was a Democrat while 28% say he is a Republican.
- 54% of voters said they were concerned that the looming “fiscal cliff” could cause Santa to cut back on his benefits.

- More voters than not (47/40) say there is a “War on Christmas”.

If you find a poll concerning the politics of unicorns, by all means please let us know.

So is Rick Santorum's former press secretary working for Fox News now? As a republican strategist, is this piece a part of the republican strategy? It was fun reading and many of the fallacies were good knee slappers.

My favorite was, (and Alice made sure to put the real meat in quotes)

Initially, church and school officials stood firm, yet after concerns of putting “hard working, sacrificial teachers and cast members in harm's way” the matinee performance was cancelled.

Is a new terrorist threat being created here? But doesn't this fly in the face of the "no atheist in foxholes" because if you follow the logic, real atheists are cowards and fear any threat of death.

Myths and Fear do work well in controlling herds.

BTW: Many atheist do enjoy the holiday season so not all want to shut it down. Let's end that fallacy for once.

But if they are given no coverage................... As I said in an earlier post, christmas is not going anywhere. Those nativity scenes aren't going anywhere and Linus will continue every christmas to tell the nativity story to millions of school age children. Town and cities all across America continue to put up christmas decorations every year at taxpayer expense and it's no secret the reason for the season so relax, enjoy the decorations, have some eggnog and take comfort in the fact that for the rest of your life, your children and their children's lives that christmas will be safe and sound while being celebrated in the same traditions as you do so today.
