UPS delivery: We’ll take your address and your location data

Signing for a delivery: it’s the last step in the process, but it can be inconvenient for the logistics company and customer. The customer needs to schedule their day around a time window when the package might arrive so they can sign for it. And if the customer isn’t home, the delivery company has to make multiple trips. “This represents an inefficient use of carrier resources,” UPS wrote in a patent application published this week.

UPS already offers a couple of solutions to this problem, which include having parcels forwarded to a different location where someone can sign on the receiver’s behalf or sending the package to a UPS customer center. But the logistics company outlines another solution in its patent application that can allow customers to provide the location of their vehicle or another place where the package can be delivered. It all hinges on consumers sharing quite a lot of information.

New package and supply chain facility near Ljubljana opens as businesses of all sizes in Slovenia increasingly take advantage of export opportunities

Today UPS® officially opened its new package sorting and delivery center near Ljubljana, to support Slovenian companies as they turn to e-commerce and exports to grow their business. Located in Zgornji Brnik, near Ljubljana International Airport and part of the Ljubljana Business Center, the new UPS facility will help large and small companies in Slovenia be part of the country’s sustained growth in exports which was forecasted at more than 10% in 2019.

A local community outreach program headed by a UPS worker named James Joseph, but who is widely known as ‘Big Brown,’ will be leading coronavirus relief efforts that are set to begin Friday, July 10.

Big Brown Reaching Back announced Wednesday that it received a donation of 6,000 masks and will be delivering the protective gear throughout the state.

In addition to this, the organization will provide local schools with up to 350 masks as well as a $1,200 check to assist in the purchasing of school supplies.

He argued that his previous participation in a race discrimination grievance proceeding was the real reason for his demotion, noting that the ultimate decision makers — an HR director and district president — knew about that protected activity.
