That’s actually an interesting thought. I think Virginia goes with DC just because they’re so intertwined. The Canadian oil fields could use developing and with the sixth largest economy in the world (California) and the New York financial powerhouse it probably happens. That lure along with proximity probably brings a few states like Wyoming, Montana, Idaho, North Dakota and Alaska. Not sure Mexico would be able to resist the opportunity to finally take Texas back.

Except the blue commies, aka the People's Democracy of Fantasyland, are trying to claim a lot of real estate they don't actually control. And, they'll also have to realize where all the money will end up when the Billionaires establish new residences. They can also say goodbye to the use of any natural resources they control, since their constituents will chain themselves to anything and everything to "save the environment".

Blue states are in financial hot water for doling out money they don't have. Pelosi is trying to get them bailed out but McConnell rightfully points out states that are fiscally responsible shouldn't have to save states that aren't.
