Try not to forget we've got most of the oil, agriculture, and in case you haven't noticed we're crisscrossed with interstates and railroads too. Hell we've got most of the wind turbines in the country and most of the navigable rivers. Think we'd do just fine.
The interstate road a rail system would end at your borders. Your economy would be limited to your own states. You would have to negotiate your own trade deals establish your own tax laws, build your own education and healthcare system without Medicare your own system of higher education, your own army and your own banking The rest of the US would simply cut you off and isolate you. The secession states would receive absolutely nothing from the rest of the U.S. As far as agriculture goes it's getting so hot and dry out there that about the only thing that will grow anymore requires irrigation while the rest of the US would control the Mississippi and the Great Lakes.

Every few years somebody in the red states gets butt hurt about one matter or the other and talks of secession. But when the reality of secession slaps them in the face they quiet up in a hurry when they are reminded of the fact that the banks are on Wall Street and the U.S. Federal Reserve holds all the cards.

Are you under the impression that red states don't export agriculture products? We produce most of the food eaten in this country. Most of the cotton, timber, etc. Most of the Mississippi flows through the red states as well as it's major tributaries. And only crackpots typically talk of secession but when elections are rigged that talk increases by a lot more folks. You're apparently putting this on the Southeast but the red states encompass most of the Midwest and Mountain States too. So yes we would produce most of the food, have most of the oil. We already have the world's best cardiovascular hospitals and universities everywhere. Be careful what you wish for.

Bacha had a welfare check by the police the other day, no one had heard from him for days.

Seems he had walked in front of a mirror, and was still arguing with it when they found him.

We're talking individual income taxes and the fact is the bottom 50% of income earners pay very little in income tax. The bulk of it is paid by the top 50%, especially the top 10%.
Most of the wealthiest people pay little or no income taxes.
They don't work at jobs.

Wage earners pay income taxes ... wealthy people don't.

95 percent of taxes are paid by the top 1 percent?
The top 1 percent of taxpayers paid roughly $538 billion, or 37.3 percent of all income taxes, while the bottom 90 percent paid about $440 billion, or 30.5 percent of all income taxes.

What percentage of taxes do the Top 5 Pay?
A look at the big picture
Income Category2017 AGIPercent of Income Taxes Paid
Top 5%Over $208,05359.1%
Top 10%Over $145,13570.1%
Top 25%Over $83,68286.1%
Top 50%Over $41,74096.9%

You can look up the stats. Most income taxes are paid by the wealthy. And Trump paid millions.
Trump admits he’s hasn’t paid taxes. You’re confusing Trump‘s businesses paying taxes, not his individual tax. He’s skated paying taxes. He’s a real scumbag. Never mind using our courts to not pay his debts with bankruptcies.

And we're talking about income taxes which would exclude those receiving interest or dividends only. Talking about working and many of the wealthiest do work or did until they retired. There's absolutely no reason for Besos or Buffet or even Fred S to work but they do. Undoubtedly most of their income comes from dividends or selling shares which while not work income still gets taxed. It's just the politics of envy that says the wealthy don't pay their fair share.

one seems to conflict with the other?

Blue states are in financial hot water for doling out money they don't have. Pelosi is trying to get them bailed out but McConnell rightfully points out states that are fiscally responsible shouldn't have to save states that aren't.
And if the blue states no longer have to support the red states?
