When the strike was close to happening 3 weeks ago I almost got relocated to Maine to cover. At least if the strikes happen, I get to go to a state I've never been to before. The 12 hours a day would suck though.

Boy, are they going to be surprised when the IRS takes 56% out for taxes.
Since it is not money earned, the IRS Rules list it as a Gift.
Thus the 56% along with all regular taxes, most will be lucky to see $200.

DOT hours are capped at 60 hours during a 7 day period but the company can change it to 70 hours over and 8 day period.

They did that door in the pandemic for a couple of weeks because everyone was running out of hours

But at least in package if we go over 60 we get paid double time for it

Now yes. You get it back when you file next year. A lot of people say this, but they don’t really know how taxes work

Not surprised, if true. Like I said, my local had three days worth of meetings for approximately 3000 members and less than 200 showed up between all three days.
