Funny you say that. I saw her walking in to my building this morning, standing with all of the local 174. So I would assume she is a Teamster..
Was she being vulgar? She always seems to be unprofessional when talking to us members. It’s embarrassing how disgusting she talks. It’s like she tries to hard to relate to the blue collar members that she wishes she was.

She's a dues paying Teamster for the purposes of eligibility to run for union office but has never worked as a rank and file member. I put her in the same classification as Todd T and Christie B.

She was hired by IBT directly out of college and then began working for L174.
Same thing happened to Hjr

She had facts but also had a chip on her shoulder that I didn’t like. Then she attacks Tyler on how the grievance process works in his local then talks up on how good hers is and I’m thinking you aren’t really apart of the grievance process in your local. Your are a financial advisor. Then she gets on Tyler about the 401 saying we will never have a problem with our pensions and will all ways have a check every month for life. She is right about the check but if it is failing you will have to cut off the fat of the pension. That means less money in the check and everything in between... She just only pointed out the good with some holes in it. It’s a No vote for me.

She's appointed, not elected, therefore not subject to "eligibility" while now paying dues....

....and yes, this is how Hoffa Jr attained eligibility two decades ago.

Her main push and the International's goal is to see that the "Master" is passed on the first go. She is advocating selling out the members in the Central and Southern to protect any improvements that might occur for her local. If the "Master" passes those members under the Central and Southern will have to live with their inferior pension benefits, even if they vote their Supplemental and Rider down. The IBT/UPS pension formula that occurred with the 2008 (Central) buy out is written in the "Master" and also in the "Central and Southern Supplemental", the reason is if the Central and Southern caught wind of what other members will be getting they might vote the Supplement down. If the language is contained in the "Master" and it passes you get no option but to live with it, your vote might just stick a knife in the back of those trying to get equality with their retirement benefits. Reverse the order and decide how you would feel if your retirement would be affected by members in a different region or conference.

She would be singing a different story if she represented a local in the Midwest or South. For those in the West, try to understand why it is important to vote this "Master" down just for the sake of those who unfortunately do not have your superior retirement benefits. Those retirement benefits are protected, you will not lose them if you vote "no" on the "Master", if your supplements benefit you vote them in.

They are giving the company the right to subcontract any rail load. That is probably 20% of our buildings work right now taking and retrieving loads from the rail.
This will have huge consequences

This is very misleading

The company will not snap their fingers and subcontract everything.

They have to have a way to train folks as they bring down sections of the rail. This will be a slow process.

You are making a complaint about work that is already subcontracted to the rail road now - but the catch is we get full time sleeper jobs that pay $155,555 a year in lieu.

It is a temporary requirement as you cannot staff 3,000 Feeder driver sleeper teams doing it any other way.

These loads we bring to the rail will be subcontracted.
Temporary is not 5 years.
We have 0 sleeper teams in Wisconsin.
All sleepers are in Chicago. Which they laid off a significant number of drivers. If they were planning on using teamsters to do this work they would not have laid off these drivers.

There is no subcontractor that could undertake that

Look at the CDL shortage nationally. You’re telling me that would be available the moment of ratification?

It simply would not be the case

They will subcontract the portion of the rail they are grounding and training feeder drivers on. That’s it

The other side of this is now local unions may file a grievance despite being origin or destination

Yes via Coyote logistics

Filing grievances does nothing. We lose every subcontracting grievance at j a c

Sad that many part timers work more hours than ba’s and union negotiators and then get talked down to by them even though we pay their overpaid salary.
Why don’t you run for local office? Maybe you’re to chicken:censored2: to come to a union meeting. You’re probably in a right to work state and don’t pay dues anyway.

2023 will be the year that UPS tries to get out of the pension business and into a matching 401k! The language in the memorandum of understanding was not put there by accident, the locals and the national know this, ask your BA why the date changed to 5 years. For her to say this is a misreading of the language and all this means is that we would negotiate a better pension for our members, when they haven't raised the pension for 25 and out for how many years now is laughable. The members who get hired after the 2023 contract or have not been vested by then will be in a 401k style pension they will bump our existing pension up to sell it to veteran employees the usual divide and conquer.
