Biden Puts 8000 Union Members Out of Work

I wouldn’t buy an operation that poorly set up. I’d have to start from scratch developing a management team to properly run it. It’s better to sit back and wait for those operations to fail and take them for free. Your friend will have a harder time finding a buyer if that buyer has to drive a truck. His priority should be getting himself out of a truck. He’ll be happier and his company will be worth much more without any change in revenue.
That’s weird, I figure you would just vote yourself his stuff like liberals always do.

There are two key points to be made here. First, China is not remotely interested in green issues — or ‘clean’ energy — except insofar as it enables it to gain a competitive advantage over the West while it continues full steam ahead with its fossil fuel-powered industries.

Second, the ‘green jobs’ promised by everyone from President Joe Biden to UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson as one of the benefits of their proposed Net Zero revolutions are a myth. Or, if you prefer, a blatant lie.

Pipelines are not good for the USA, but ok to enrich the Taliban.

Have a model 3 Tesla. Range is well over 300 miles. While it takes longer than 10 minutes to charge I see that time coming down in the near future. New battery technology is around the corner, and the Tesla is fun to drive. It is like having a new car all the time with software updates from the cloud every couple of weeks.

Oh, and this boy had a 1973 340 Cuda and ran it (sometimes) with bare headers back in the day... :teethy:
Mopar or no car!

Have you heard Biden has a great opportunity to bring back the High Speed Rail in CA.
Now all the people who have no pipeline jobs can work on a Green Project.
All they have to do is move to CA.

Isn’t that how it works in big infrastructure projects? You move to where the work is.

The project mentioned is a waste of money.
Trump not only cancelled Federal Monies Allocated for it, he also demanded a refund from CA.
Call it a speed train to nowhere.

Yeah I mean the writing is on the wall for this industry. GM just announced that all their cars will be zero emission in 14 years, stuff like that portends the serious decline of this industry. I’ll just be in my early 60’s by 2035. Plus I gotta wonder what happens to my pension if this industry goes belly up after I retire. I may switch careers, and I have applied to various jobs and even got two job offers,, but the pay for both jobs was like $35 an hour which would be a huge pay cut for me. Plus I got a lot of vacation weeks, decent healthcare, etc. Although due to the refinery pay cut a lot people are retiring Because their pensions are in part based on their last 3 years of earnings. So despite the down economy, where I work is hiring and promoting people for now.

These refineries don’t employ that many workers already. I think it’s like 35,000 full time refinery Oil workers in the USW Union. That’s not the employment of the whole oil and gas industry which is probably in the millions, but just the number of petroleum refinery oil workers. The only value we have to the nation is that as long as gasoline remains the dominate way we fuel vehicles, then the US doesn’t want to depend on other nation’s producing the fuel we need, but as the need for gasoline and diesel and jet fuel drops, that national value decreases as well. So the remaining refineries will either convert to supply other products or they’ll die. Pretending that an incompetent, corrupt Republican potus can stop these trends is just living in a delusional fantasy world.
I worked a brakeman job in a crude railyard, you’ve probably heard of the Bayway Refinery in Linden New Jersey. I was Conrail, but the property was owned by Phillips 66

It was basically explained to us that nobody wants to drag American crude oil through all these towns from Nebraska to New Jersey, and that the margin of profit was very very slim. Like $25 billion put on the line every year to make 26 billion back. Now, while that is a billion dollars… it’s only $1 billion. Which is not much to ConocoPhillips or Norfolk Southern… especially considering the possibility of losing 25 billion in the process

The same facility also gets three times as much crude oil pumped in daily via barge from Algeria at the Elizabeth NJ port

I'm a conservative but I'm ok with him killing the xl pipeline. My opinion is let's use up everyone's oil first. Nobody wants a pipeline over there water source. The oil companies won't pass on the money they save to the consumers anyway. Soon most cars will be electric so people in the oil and gas industry should if they are young start looking for another career. Ups got a corporate tax cut of 13% and we got a average contract.
Do you realize how many miles of pipeline there is already? Another thou is a drop in the bucket. Electric cars won't take over for many many years --if at all. Not until you can get the range out of them that you can a regular car. And who is going to build all the charging stations needed to make them feasible. Fossil fuels are here to stay for many years.

What range are you looking for? Hybrids get over 500 miles on a 9 gallon tank of gas. Charging stations are popping up everywhere. If Amazon put charging stations at all theirs stores. Look out

Much easier and cheaper putting charging stations in any and every parking lot than a gas station anywhere.
